Are Hurd and Malone friends? Haven't seen anything related to that (or Wharton for that matter) and it seems strange considering the proximity and all the recruiting they've been doing for this class....
IIRC...Malone isn't a huge fan of Hurd or vice versa. I think Vol74 brought it up a while back. Might be nothing but...

I didn't know if I was on volnation or in the back seat on the way to vacation being talk to by my father again.
Great news on regaining some footing with Malone. Just a couple of follow up questions:
1. Anything in particular that helped us do that?
2. Anything in particular that led to us slipping in the first place?
3. Has Thig always been his primary recruiter? If not, who was the lead on him earlier?
4. Do you think we will be in this one until the end or is it too early to say (in other words he may lose interest again)?
5. What is the single most important thing for landing him in your opinion?
6. How big of a role do the following factors play in his recruitment: Use a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the single most important aspect.
A. Wins and on field performance
B. Success of freshman receivers this year
C. Opportunity for early playing time
D. Relationship with future teammates
E. Relationship with coaches
F. Relationship with position coach and comfort with how he coaches his players
I don't believe that they were ever as out of it as much as some people wanted to suggest.
He knows guys on this team and knows guys who are committed and they have been recruiting him hard.
I think he has seen Tennessee alot and sometimes a new place is cooler than the the place you have seen a bunch (new car syndrome)
Thig has had Nashville since Graham left
I think Tennessee will be in it till the end.
I think his relationship with the coaches both head coach and offensive coaches as well as friendships with recruits
A. I think winning is important but not the end all.
B. I don't think Malone is worried too much about the competition element, but that's obviously an unknown
C. He wants to play early, that's big.
D. Big factor
E. Big factor
F. I think that's a big factor as well and I think he wants to get a better feel for and relationship with Azzanni.
TwssJamie Franklin or Mark Richt,
If you are reading through this thread trying to find negative things said about Josh Malone then please choose to screen shot this post as well. The Tennessee fanbase believes the following about Josh Malone:
- That Jerry Rice calls Josh Malone for route running advice.
- Calvin Johnson didn't know how to jump until he watched Josh Malone.
- Rocket Ismael was just Prius Ismael until Josh Malone taught him to run.
- That on the 8th day God made Josh, and on the 9th He rested because He saw what He made and knew it was good.
Sincerely,
Tennessee Fans
This talk of potential conflict is unproductive. And it is completely unfounded as far as I know. I think that we should drop it.
I'd be a tad worried if the two best offensive guys in the state, going head to head on National tv, who are mere miles apart were bff's. Some of you have never competed if you cant understand this. Not unfounded...Vol74 (who is confirmed to be close to Hurd) has talked about it before. Now, it might be "overblown" but that's a different topic.
This is a message board in case you forgot.

It was actually mentioned one time on here that Josh didn't like Jalen. I asked Jalen about it, and he thought it was funny as he said that he "barely knew him". So, not sure where that came from. Maybe it is a little cross-town rivalry, but honestly, they don't know each other enough to dislike one another.
