Quite truthfully, I can say I've never given up hope of signing Josh Malone.

If a team has one great receiver, he can be double-teamed. If you've got two great receivers and a mobile QB, you can force the defense into situations they are not able to adequately defend.

I think North may be the only receiver on our roster that could demand a double team in a couple of years. Not that we don't have others who could be pretty good, but I don't see other teams feeling a need to double cover them. I don't see any guys committed in the 2014 class that would demand a double team. I think Malone could be that other guy.

I think you're underrating Lauderdale. He's got the potential to demand double teams as well IMO. He and North should be a great pair on the outside and we've got a lot of guys who could be very good playing inside of those two (Pig, Jenkins, Devrin, and Johnson) . I'm really excited to see how much Croom and Harris have improved this year as well. Bowles and Smith both have a lot of potential too. I feel like we've got a lot of potential at WR overall and it's going to be interesting to see who seperates themselves. I actually feel good about our WRs going forward.

North is bigger, just as fast, and was ranked higher coming out of high school.. It's not "laughable" or out of the question that he could be just as good.

"just as good," /=/ "make the SEC forget all about Cooper."

We need him. Plain and simple.

Lol I don't mean literally forget about a player.. I mean if North has a freshman season like Cooper, it will make a lot of noise.. He's set up really well for it bc we don't have anyone really stepping up at the position yet.

I can agree with all of that.

"Additionally, the Vols have regained some footing with in-state stud wide receiver Josh Malone. The Station Camp High School standout has a very strong rapport with both Tommy Thigpen and Butch Jones. Don't be surprised if Malone visits when the Vols host Georgia."

I guess he liked the new uniforms also.

Are Hurd and Malone friends? Haven't seen anything related to that (or Wharton for that matter) and it seems strange considering the proximity and all the recruiting they've been doing for this class....

Malone doesn't do the social media stuff, so you wont see them talking. I don't think they are good friends like you see from some of the others in that area. If not mistaken, Malone is not originally from Tennessee, so he wouldn't have grown up around them.
