Fulmer and Majors used to do this exact thing with recruits that had no interest in UT or that they did not have a spot for. Their reasoning: If the player was really good, you want them on your team or in another conference. That way way, they play for you or NOT against you.

If I remember correctly, both pushed recruits to the old Southwest Conference and/or Big 8. Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and even Arkansas. Also to South Carolina and Clemson.

franklin did not originate this tactic....does not in any way, shape or form imply that I like the vandy coach either.

Stop talking Vandy.. I'm telling yal, they have absolutely no chance.. Right now it's tOSU and UF and we're playing catch up to those 2, but we're making up ground.

If anyone has a chance with Hurd outside of the SEC, then Hurd and his friends should not be running around dogging Bell about not staying in the SEC. Hurd will stay in the SEC that is a guarantee.

Currently Hurd favors OSU from someone very close to him. I know there's a ton of time to recruit him. I will be so disappointed if he goes anywhere but UT. I hear Butch has seen him once already. James Franklin is the one around Jalen the most, for obvious reasons.

Yeah I gotcha, but tOSU is scary. This kid grew up watching Urban win national championships and Urban isn't going to let this recruitment end until Jalen has his LOI signed, which could easily be in near christmas if he EEs

He also watched Urban quit his team, twice. Big question is will CUM be there in 2-3 years.

That sounds believable except you included Majors. Johnny never recruited anyone. He was too busy at Toddy's hanging out with Jack, Jim, and George.

Sorry but that was actually a response to someone concerning Malone. My feelings on Hurd are more murky... It's going to be a tough pull because some great recruiting schools are on him hard.

I think that you better rethink this post. Hurd has the chance to go anywhere he wants to. To say that he is a guarantee that he stays in the SEC is ludicrous. For that matter no recruit is a guarantee to any conference.

I thought you guys would get a laugh out of this: Vandy fan on the MB saying Vandy leads and his parents love Franklin. I haven't followed his recruitment closely but I don't think he has a leader, please correct me if I'm wrong guys. That said I find it funny how the Vandy "fans" are out in force

Doubtful. Franklin isn't going to be there for that much longer imo. Kids need to be able to see that the guy is just a mercenary.
