I have watched a few of Gauldens gms and he is one awesome complete player. The kid can just about play any position on the field expect for in the trenches. He's a great pick up for us. GO Vols

25 catches for 306 yards & 5 TDs, 94 tackles, 3 INTs

In 7 games to be specific. I know at least one of those picks was a pick six

That's ridiculous.

Don't think it's been answered in this thread, but what kind of competition is he going against?

A 3* by some of the Recruiting/Marketing businesses. When, I watched some of this kids film, I was blown away. Sounds like he may be an impact player when he hits town.

Some top talent in Tennessee. 5A I think (I'm from GA and I'm more familiar with HS FB down here). He's already played Beech (Jalen Hurd's team that won state last year) and he had 30 tackles or so lol.

The catch is we've almost exclusively talked to him about playing CB and he's playing S in HS. It will be a transition, but those tackling skills as a CB  Unfair.

Also, Buck Fitzgerald (known as corner36 on VQ) has said multiple times that Gaulden is the best player in the state for '14, & yes he even said better than Todd Kelly Jr.

Beginning to believe there may be some credibility to this statement... :superman:

I don't understand how the analysts missed this for so long. Ulterior motives? He's a no-brainer 4* and potentially a 5*. His combination of speed and athleticism jumps out at you. Then you add in his production and having gone to camp. Head scratcher.

Been to two Indy games and two webb games. And Gaulden is unbelievable. I would definitely agree...and Wharton has the best ball skills in the country. Top players in the state should go
1. Hurd
2. Gaulden
3. Wharton
4. Malone
5. Barnett
And if you dont believe me then go to a game dont watch a highlight film, go to a game. I've been to watch all 5 of these spectacular high school athletes.

It's because he sat out last year. He was at Brentwood Academy (where Barnett is) Freshman and Sophomore seasons, transferred to Independence HS, and had to sit out last fall as a Junior.

He didn't play at all last year. It's the what have you done recently syndrome. The same reason why people are dogging Clowney, except under different circumstances on why they didn't play.
