Strong side de is a weird position for a kid that big, especially with weight to add. Wonder if he stays on the dl at dt or gets shifted to ol. And odd that we haven't offered with an offer list like that.

Future DT IMO. 25lbs and he would be a beast.

He could also drop 15 lbs and at 6'7 270 be a monster DE. I tend to think adding weight for a 17 year old is more likely to happen.

I think Michigan gets a good one here.

6'7/285 isn't too out there if he plans to play DE in a 3-4 defense (ala a Justin Smith, Luis Castillo type). Lengthy though, but Dion Jordan is around 6'7 as well (just quite a bit lighter).

Sounds like a big Michigan lean though from what I've heard lately, with ND in the mix as well. Too soon to say with LSU/Bama, but anytime Bama offers people tend to listen.

Yes I guess it depends on if he's in a 3-4 or not. Recruiting sites don't specify by that tho so I assume they think he'll have to play in a 3-4 at this point. I do think he would be an awesome dt in a 4-3 tho.

was going to come in here saying that he probably wouldn't have played against good competition since loyola is such a small school in Michigan, but I just checked out their schedule and I was wrong. Something to keep an eye on is they play Detroit Country Day next year. I played against that school my jr and sr year in high school when they had ND RB Jonas Gray Mich St WR Bennie Fowler Univ of Mich LB Kenny Demens and Illinois WR Kenny Knight they have many other D1 athletes. That schools QB is committed to Rutgers for next year and they have a good WR and RB. Would love to see how this kid plays in that game.

Malik McDowell, a 6'6, 300-pound defensive tackle from Detroit Loyola was offered by Tennessee today. Will be tough to get him out of the Midwest though.

Hate it for the kids when situations like this arise. Probably best to stay far away.

Hate it for this kid but how in the world does this get related to TN? Dang, some people try really really really too hard.

live here in Michigan and this is all over the news. tons of rumors floating around. but i'll say there is no chance he ends up here. From what I've read I'd say he still signs with MSU within the next week. If he doesn't sign with MSU I think its a OSU/Michigan race.

Thanks for a to the point answer. Seems his mom wants him as far away as possible from either the UM or MSU. Out of Michigan all together. Don't know if it's drug related or as seems to be hinted, some personal experience the mom endured while there. But it seems if mom get her way, he will be far away from Michigan indeed. Will be interesting to see how far away if he listens to mom.

I read something on one board last week, don't remember which one, that said he wouldn't be at MSU because his Mom got pissed on the visit. She supposedly overheard a bunch of current players bragging that they never go to class. I read all this before signing day so I was surprised when he announced for them.

I think she threw him out of the house. Maybe why it's said he showed up for signing dressed in a running outfit rather than regular clothes. I hate that he's enduring this. And I don't know a darn thing as to why she's so against Michigan. It must be more than you claim above because it's not just MSU but UM and the whole state.

Could be with all the shootings happening in Detroit, she wants him in as safe a location as possible. Though I don't think Florida State is a good choice with the stand your ground laws and people using it as an excuse to kill someone who even blows their nose with a red hanky or wears a hood instead of an Irish cap. Football players have been gunned down, I think most recent was in Connecticut. So she might be trying to get him away to where she knows or believes his chances are better for living long enough to fulfill his dreams.

But while I'd not object to his coming to the UT, I'd be a bit leery due to our experience with that Arnett guy.
Plus he sounds like he really wants MSU--so would he be happy at the UT? However, CBJ just might be the type of coach this kid needs and would make his mom ultra happy to boot. So let's just see what happens.
