'14 JUCO OL Dominick Jackson

Offensive line coach Don Mahoney recently extended an offer*to College of San Mateo prospect and four-star offensive tackle prospect Dominick Jackson. The 6-foot-7, 308-pounder recently told InsideTennessee that the Vols are in his top five. Some big factors for the JUCO big man will include academic support, graduation rates and the rate at which teams are putting playings into the NFL. There is some serious interest on both ends.

“Tennessee and I have been talking a lot now,” he said. “Coach Mahoney offered me the other day. Tennessee is definitely in my top five right now. They are in a great conference and that is big.”

“Tennessee has a lot of success in sending players to the NFL draft and producing top-level talent,” he said. “I think I could be really successful playing there, but right now I am trying to focus on academics and achieving my dream.”

“Distance is a little bit of a factor being all the way on the west coast, but if the feeling is right I wouldn’t have any problem going far away,” he said. “I definitely still want to check out Tennessee and Alabama and see the environment.”

“The really important things for me will be the academic environment and the tutoring system,” he said. “I want to make sure I have the proper help and see what the graduation rate is like. After that, I want to get to know the coaches and see how many players a school is sending to the NFL.”

Let's see....

didn't we just post that we had made the highest GPA as a team in Tennessee history or something like that?

And hasn't this coaching staff sent quite a bit of players to the NFL?

I see this turning out well for us. This is a big guy!

Amazing. It's like every JUCO player we're in on got a high 4*.

It's like Butch knows how to evaluate talent or something....whoa.

The biggest concern of Blair would be Bama if they offered. Now that they have a JUCO OL, I think Blair is a Vol.

He should definitely pull the trigger now. I'll call him and let him know. Lets see now where is that phone number..... :). Seriously though Blair will be huge!

Guys cupboard will not be bare. Crowder is a player. Posey. Jackson would be starting at most other SEC schools. Plus youll have three redshirt freshman with a year in the S&C program and in the playbook.

Its not like they have to go out and recruit 5 starters for 14.

There will be some dropoff though, and Blair would help alleviate that some.
