As a freshman at Mt. San Jacinto in 2012, Brown had 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two picks. He'll graduate in December and will have three years to play two seasons

Interesting offer- based on those schools, I would think we would be the frontrunner. With Maggitt most likely back and with Weatherd being JUCO, I figured we were only looking at HS LB's now.

If this staff can sure up some DLine talent, next year could be better than people think.

Interesting move by the staff. Linebacker certainly won't be a liability in the years to come.

The options and accolades didn’t come the traditional way for Brown, who was a solid enough receiver and linebacker at Beaumont High and a good enough athlete to also play basketball. But when it came time to pursue college, Brown was deemed a non-qualifier, which meant he wasn’t academically eligible to play at Division I schools.

But things started to change over the past year. Not only did Brown have a breakout freshman season at MSJC and earn all-state recognition, he also found out this spring that he was indeed academically qualified after it was discovered that a science class he took in high school was originally not counted toward his NCAA core courses.

FOOTBALL: MSJC

FWIW, Brown is listed at 6-1, 209 on the MSJC roster.

I think some "clearing house" is about to happen after this year. I think CBJ is starting to realize that he needs certain players here that he didn't have to have to win in his other two head coaching jobs. He's pretty much recruited LB over, along with DB, so if you are a RS SO or older LB/DB and aren't playing then your spot may be in jeopardy. This is fine by me as long as we aren't doing it in three years because we missed on tons of talent again, which I didn't think is going to happen with this staff. I'm also very proud to see CBJ and Mike B. go to some I-Form sets on those 4th and shorts. When you are a spread offense and you start lining up in I-Form/Strong/Weak packages defenses really get on edge thinking they must be running it up the middle, and that allows for big plays to occur, like the wheel route pass to Branisel last week. Very happy to see CBj and Mike B. get out of their element to win games, even though we we lost unfortunately Saturday.

If the Science class was honestly left off the HS transcript, I would be extremely pissed if I was Brown and I would raise hell about it.

I'm pretty sure we offered this kid a while ago. Weatherd committed first so I would guess Brown's offer is no longer committable.

I think if you have a two deep of:

A.J. Johnson
Curt Maggitt
Chris Weatherd

Jaylen Reeves-Mayhem
Dejon Brown
Clifton Garrett
Dillon Bates
Gavin Bryant
Jerome Dews
Kevin Mouhon

That's just sick.
