'14 JUCO C/PF Octavius Ellis

Hmm...makes me think if any college on the scale of UT offered him, he would probably jump pretty easily. I doubt he wants to go to a small school, but would if it was his only option.

Whoever takes him is gonna have to answer some questions and probably take some heat, that the drawback

Oh yeah no doubt, there will be tons of heat. At this point in time, a coach such as ours has got to ask what he really wants to accomplish in his first year. If it is a NCAA birth, and a player like Pollard wants to commit, I think he is a take. After a few good games by Pollard and some wins, that heat will go away as fast as it came, assuming he keeps his nose clean.

That's the risk/reward factor, if he gets into trouble again does winning with him outweigh that?

Also, having a guy like Cheek as your boss makes this move a bit more difficult as well. I'm shocked we haven't heard auburn involved with him, Pearl & Jacobs would seemingly love this guy.

Maybe that's a red flag? Lol

Well is Pollard publicly being heavily recruited by any other colleges? I am just wondering if everyone is being all hush hush about it because of his past.

Who is Pollard? I haven't seen anything about him. Devonta Pollard that was at Bama?

I think he is worth the risk.

Pollard has been through a lot of gnarly stuff. I think CDT's no nonsense approach would do well for his focus and attitude.

Indeed, but his momma is the one that should be thrown under the jail. I hope testifying against his mother and doing the work in Scooba, MS that he needed to do are a better indicator of what kind of kid he is, rather than his decision in that incident.

Yea that's been odd on the no news thing, I mean there's literally been nothing mentioned on the kid, he's been silent.

I do wonder where he would fit though, he's 6'6" 205lbs, so he's more of a 3/4. That means he enters the field of competition for PT with Hubbs, Richardson, Moore, Cofer* and Owens*.

I'm not saying he wouldn't be a good get because he would and likely allows you to RS a guy like Owens which would be ideal. However, I have to think Martin probably is wanting to go somewhere he's gonna start and get big minutes.

He would be a good use of a scholly imo, just on the fact that he's a senior and can bang inside somewhat. He had a 7 game stretch this past season where he averaged about 15 points and 7 boards a game and had another game where he had 19 points and 16 boards. That'd take some rebounding pressure off one of the young guys inside. He's also a veteran presence that can guard another teams 4.

Oh I agree he would be a contributor, I just assume he's looking at places that are NCAAT teams but maybe missing a 3 or 4 where he can jump in, start 30 minutes a game and play in the NCAAT.

Would love to land him don't get me wrong, the silence with him is odd though.

I think I read an article that he wouldn't be commenting on it until after he graduated. I wonder if he actually graduated in spring or isn't going to until summer session. Maybe he's the player they were talking about waiting until summer on?

Good point.

That's a good point actually. I'm surprised AU hasn't jumped at this kid.

Are we still looking to bring Ellis on if his grades are solid or has this ship sailed?
