'14 GA PG Devin Mitchell

Tech has been down the last few years but lets not act they aren't a solid school historically...just underachieved big time under Hewitt and I expect that to change now under Gregory and he has done a solid job on landing GA players so far and I know he is making a priority to recruit GA hard.

Not to mention their are an average about 10 players from GA in the top 150 each year so they can't all stay home.

I didn't mean to imply that they were awful, but they aren't a traditional power either. Had good years under Cremins and Hewitt, but success hasn't be sustained. We can win recruiting battles against Tech. Plus, as you say, the numbers in Ga. allow multiple schools to recruit there.

They also just finished their new bball arena which I assume is something that is important to recruits.

No doubt....they have always landed talent just haven't been able to produce results despite multiple mcdonald all americans and NBA players.

FWIW I think the 2014 class in GA is little weak but 2015 is absolutely loaded and could make a lot of teams happy next year.

I agree. Larry Finch was David Vaughn's uncle, so there was no doubt that he was going to Memphis. Calipari also didn't want to deal with the "posse" that Memphis players sometimes have. Of course, their family is local, so the complaints about playing time and such wil be louder. There are some players that Cal should have recruited, but I think he did ok for himself.

You know it's tough when you spend alot of time recruiting Austin Nichols, and you end up second. Nichols was a private school kid, had a sister at UT, and had a good relationship with Martin. All points to UT, but it is always tough. I think his parents were UM alums though, so that made it difficult.

Nichols' mom attended Memphis but did not graduate from there.
