'14 DE WR Neiko Creamer (UT commit 3/11/13)

TE depth looks just fine IMO

SR - Alex Ellis
RS So - AJ Bransiel
SO - Ethan Wolf
RS Fr - Neiko Creamer
Fr - Kyle Oliver (I think he is a take again with Helm leaving)

I wonder what Butch's ideal number is for TE's on the roster. It seems I remember him having a specific number he wanted for every position.

Cussing has as much to do with whether one is an effective coach or not, about as much as it has to do with whether one is a good comedian or not... which is little to nothing.

If anything, in today's society, it has become nothing more than a crutch to drop f-bombs, etc. as a means to stress a point. jmo... but a good leader/motivator/coach does not need to rely on "vulgar" language in order to make his/her point. The intent of the message can be just as easily conveyed with facial expression and tone of voice.

I can't take someone seriously if they are yelling at me using "gosh darn" "dad gummit" "work like heck". Jmo. If words hurt your feelings that bad then life is going to be rough on you. Not specifically saying you just in general.

Nothing you could say to me in high school had me wanting to rip the head off an opposing running back more than a well placed "golly gee willikers."

Tony Dungy. SB winner, played for the Steelers. No profanity. Treat everybody with respect and still win.

Vulgar expressions just emphasize a point or feeling. Not being holier than thou because I have used some, but really, haven't they been overdone by society to the point that they have lost their effectiveness? Just say want you mean and use the volume control.

Cam Clear was a Senior this year. Total career receiving of 76 yards. He was very athletic for his size but should have moved to offensive tackle. Not sure he ever took football seriously.

Well, it's hard to balance learning the playbook, etc., while simultaneously casing joints for your next "jobs."

If some on VN were coaching they'd be calling players MORANS! :)

fwiw... I know a few individuals who could look you straight in the eye, and use the terms "gosh darn", "golly gee willikers" or whatever else you want to include that you might find humorous, and guaranteed they could make you piss your pants.

Intimidation isn't coaching or leadership... it's simply using some mechanism to get your attention. Once someone has your attention, then you can be coached... and there's plenty of ways to get someone's attention without using foul language. As I said before, it's become more of a crutch for those who have no other skills to do so.

And btw... a good coach/leader also knows that different individuals are motivated by different things. So recognizing what works for that individual and modifying your behavior to get the most out of said individual is part of the skill set. If both of you require someone getting in your face and being cussed at like a sailor, I have no problem with that. But not everyone walks to the beat of the same drum.

Not a good comparison. You take cussing away from Kevin Hart and he is not one of today's hottest celebrity.

He has the skills and body to be pretty good at TE. Hope he sticks so we can have a rotation of Creamer, wolf, Oliver, and Ellis for next year

Don't think Oliver will be part of this class. Supposedly aren't recruiting him very hard right now with what we have at TE and Ethan's brother agreeing to walk on.We have Wolf, Ellis, Branisel (SP) and Creamer so using a scholly on a TE isn't a need in this class.

I remember Helm being one of the first faces from the '14 class to step forward and help out in the community, kind of like what Dormady is doing now. Kid seemed very classy and came from a good family so he will probably land on his feet wherever he goes. Good luck to the kid, . . . he might do well in the B10.
