I think we can see what the biggest need the coaches feel is. How many lbs have we offered? I think we need at least five.

People are crazy not wanting to recruit trooper's son IMO.

Just curious are you wanting him to help pull in other recruits or because you think he would help UT on the field.

I mean the knock I always thought on him was his size. He likes 5'7 160. Unless he grows I just do not see him as a DI player, but he may be worth a spot if he can bring other top players with him I guess.

To be honest, I wouldn't be mad if we got Blaise and Trooper just happened to have a spot open up for him on the staff. The past is the past, and the man can recruit!

Him knowing the players in this class. He is familiar with the southeast guys and I highly doubt Trooper lost his contacts. The coaches offered, so I'm sure they have done their homework

That is why I asked because I just do not see him as a DI player, but understand it may help in recruiting.

Yep, I'm not gonna sit here and lie like alot of others and say i wouldn't be stoked if Trooper were hired. The guy gets players.

Just because someone thinks hiring Trooper is not worth the NCAA issues that seem to follow him does not mean they are in any way telling a lie. When your cheating, it makes sense you would get players.

bama really is something else right now...

From ESPN

When ESPN Watch List linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton visited Alabama last month for the Crimson Tide’s junior day, he thought he might get the scholarship offer that he wanted. Instead, UA defensive coordinator Kirby Smart told the 6-foot-1, 224-pound Hamilton that he didn’t quite fit what Alabama was looking for at the linebacker position.

At this point, he says Auburn, Clemson, Florida and UCLA are the four schools recruiting him the hardest. He’s already taken visits to Auburn and Clemson, and he plans to visit the other two schools in the near future.

“I’m putting all my eggs in the basket, trying to make it to the league,” he said. “I just know that graduating early will put me one step ahead of all the other freshmen and some of the freshmen guys before me.”

In the meantime, Hamilton is concentrated on football. While other top prospects are finishing basketball season or starting baseball season, he’s in the weight room, getting ready for his senior season with football.

“I just want to become a better player -- get bigger, stronger, faster,” he said. “I’m just trying to better myself.”

The Watch List star says he plans to narrow his list in the next couple of weeks.

I think he is closer to 6'0 which could be one of the reasons. Bama doesnt have a LB under 6'2 that actually will play. Another reason could be the fact his HC from his freshman year, AL Pogue, was retained by Malzahn when Chizik got fire. His former teammate Jeremy Johnson is also at AU now.

Hey if you can do it, more power to you. Just seems a little over the top to tell the kid right off the bat, you'll never play here you're an inch too short. Jmo tho.

He still has good offers
“My parents and I, we sat down with Coach Smart after junior day, and he said he likes me as a kid and all that kind of stuff,” Hamilton said. “He knows I have the ability, but he says he wants to see if I get any taller. I’m not worried about it. It is what it is.”

With or without the Alabama offer, Hamilton is still considered one of the top prospects in the state, and other top programs have had no problem with his size. He already has more than 20 offers and seems to add a new one every week

Yea that's my point. He's pretty damn good and Smart basically told him no chance because you aren't an inch taller, so look somewhere else.

Personally, I hope he doesn't grow another inch and comes here with a chip on his shoulder.

Telling him the truth isnt over the top, thats just being straight up with the kid. Why offer him when u can go after the prototypical kid that fits your system.
