I'm not sure this has been discussed but both Dak Prescott and Josh Dobbs were the 135th pick in their respective drafts - pretty uncanny.

Hopefully the football gods bless them both and they become equally productive and successful in the NFL.

(merge if this has been discussed already)

Great stat. That's pretty wild considering some of the comparisons we've heard.

I think the similarity isn't necessarily between players as much as it is the teams who chose them. Both had an All-Pro caliber QB that had battled with injuries and were starting to age. I think the Steelers, like the Cowboys did, planned to get a guy with a lot of upside at a favorable pick. If it doesn't work out, they can burn a top pick in the next couple of years. The Cowboys, however, had to go to Dak earlier than they would have liked, I'm sure. Same with the Steelers -- Jones isn't getting it done and Charlie Batch is about 100, so you bring in a guy like Dobbs. He can make throws, but he also has the wheels to work within the chaos of bringing a backup QB in. He may not know everything, but he can extend plays to make something happen.

OMG, this is like soooooo weird. In 2014, the 135th pick of the NFL draft was Tom Savage!! Can you believe that?? I mean, he too is an NFL QB. Go figure, huh?

Dobbs is more like Tebow to me. Both great guys, solid teammates, smart, very athletic and can extend plays. But neither of them seems to "fit the mold". I love the guy and always supported him and naturally will pull hard for him, but he needs some things to fall into place for him in order to make it at that level. I would love to see Dobbs compare favorably with DP, but we aren't there yet...

Tebow's throwing mechanics were really bad, NFL teams tried to fix it but he refused to change. Dobbs had problems with his footwork which seem to be easier to fix as he improved as a passer last year after focusing on it. There is also the mindset that Dobbs was splitting his focus evenly between schoolwork and football. With the schoolwork out of the way there is a chance he will explode into a much better player

They actually mentioned it right after he was picked on ESPN. I assume that's where d4h got the stat but he'll claim he knew it.
