It seems we have a offered a number of these slot type speedy WR over the past week or so.

Anybody got any guesses of who we prefer the most of the slot recruits??

How many we want to be a part of this class?

Butch apparently wants 12 receivers available on the roster. I would expect us to take 5-6 overall.

So we have 2 commits now with north being a huge target. I would assume we would want north and one more outside guy along with 2 slot type guys.

This guy a slot guy?

Shows him listed as a QB/S in high school. Probably recruiting him for some position in the secondary. Still following the pattern of recruiting speed.

I just like the fact that all these kids getting offers run 4.4 40's. CBJ clearly sees we need to get faster if we are to have a chance to compete with the big boys of the SEC.
Dooley signed good players but he ignored the fact that they can have the best technique in the country, but if they can't keep up with their opponent then it won't matter.
CBJ knows that great technique can be taught, but speed is something you either have or you don't and if you don't have it in the SEC then more often than not, your gonna get beat.

Ok. Mundy is TX 1A football. 5A is the top in TX. Now I really don't know what to think about this but it can be all about speed. I find it tough to think he will come all the way to TN especially if OkST wants him. But who knows. Looking at Mundys record this yr they dominated thier schedule. Scoring a bunch. West TX scrappy players I'm sure. Just really tough to believe he can hold up against sec players but who knows.

hes not interested in Okie State
With that said, all eyes are now on an old team, Texas Tech, a new team in Baylor and a newer team in Tennessee. Paul said the Volunteers offered him on Monday.

Wherever he ends up, Paul said he will be both a football player and track and field competitor. He hopes to participate in the 400 hurdles and the mile relay in college.

seems like the Vols have a great shot at getting him if we think he can contribute both for football and track.... Can we offer him a "track scholarship" and save the scholly for another player on the football side?

No. Would have to be on football scholarship

Oh ok. Thx. My comment can still be used if you insert Baylor and Tech. Obviously I don't know the kid, but tiny-town kid from West Tx going to a school where he knows no one is a big decision. I did it (from bigger city though) so I know how tough it is, but still not for the faint of heart. Few people are capable of doing it IMO. Many think they can but quickly realize it ain't so easy. Hopefully it works out though and if he becomes a Vol hopefully he enjoys UT as much as I did.

He could take track scholarship and walk-on for football, but highly unlikely because not only would track coach have to offer him, but offer full scholarship not partial like some track athletes get iirc.

That can't happen. You have to be on the major sports scholarship. NCAA made that a rule years ago to keep schools from using other sports to get football players.

If that was possible Hunter could have done that. NCAA has put an end to that, unfortunately.

Butch wants small quick guys, and big powerful guys. Bajakian loves to run 3-5 wide sets. It's always been default that we need sec depth 2 deep to win. Bajakian uses different groups of personnel, so what he needs for his two deep is different than Nusheimer, or Pease.

He looks taller than 5'11 on video compared to his teammates/opponents or they have a lot of short guys around those parts.
