I think it's likely that the SEC will accept Texas AM's request to become a member when it's delivered.

While, The general consensus is that the SEC will want to add at least one more team to keep the divisions equal, it is possibe to create a workable and fair schedule for 13 teams until the right team comes along.

By adding Texas AM to the west and keeping the East as it is, all teams could continue to play an 8 game SEC schedule.

Each East team would continue to play every East opponent once per season, keeping their permanent West rival and continuing to play two other West teams on a rotating basis.

In the West Division things would change slightly. Texas AM would have no permanent East rival, and all the West division teams could have 2 permanent West division rivals. Teams would play the other West teams along with the East Teams on a rotating basis. In any given season the West teams would play either 2 East teams and all 4 other West teams, or 3 East teams and only three of the other West teams.

No. The SEC is currently happy with it's 12 participants. They have mentioned they are not likely at all to add any teams in the foreseeable future.

I wonder how the 13 team would work. I mean the east would lose a west conference game a year.

more than likely, it will be a 13 team league in 2012. i don't anticipate it staying like that for more than one athletic year

They've said (or at least ESPN did) that they'd be fine working with 13 seasons for a season if need be

Put UT in one division and the other 12 schools in the other.

It will be nice winning a divisional championship again.

They will only add A&M if they can get at least 1 other team to join the conference. This deal may only get done if the SEC decides to create a 16 team SuperConference. If they add 4 teams in 2012, that will change the entire landscape of College Football.

The domino effect would likely mean the death of the BIG 12, the formation of the Pac 16, the Big 10-11 moving to 16 teams and a merger between what is left of the ACC and the Big East. Some teams will be left out in the cold and the smaller conferences such as the WAC, Mountain West and Conference USA will scramble to stay alive. It could get complicated and traditional basketball schools in the Big East joining the Atlantic 10. I am sure the NCAA will have some influence over this especially after schools like Kansas State, who will be on the outside looking in, complain about the loss of money from TV contracts.

I don't think we would operate with 13 teams. I firmly believe there will be a 14th by the time the season starts.

I can't imagine only 13. Maybe go ahead and accept A&M now, but find another team before 2013 season so it'll be an even 14. I'd like to keep it 7 and 7.

If this were to happen, that would be adding two western teams. How do you imagine the divisions being divided? Geographically speaking, wouldn't that push Bama into the Eastern division?

It's looking like it may be a 13 team league for one year, unless one school has done a good job keeping itself quiet (Missouri or Va Tech).

One of the following:

If geographically divided:

Move bama east

Move auburn east

Move vandy west, move auburn & bama east

If not geographically (it's really not that important):

Move ole miss east

Move miss St east

(like either of those two options)

Move vandy west, move ole miss & miss St east

I'd applaud mizzou if that were the case; means they learned after what happened last time

What they say but VT will be added, they just aren't saying it with conviction yet.

North - South maybe? North: Missouri, Arkansas, Vandy, Tenn, Kent, UGA, Alabama. South: A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St, Auburn, Florida, SC

I tried to predict a schedule with eight conference games and 13 teams where every team in the West played each other and failed horribly. I have to think based on Slive's comments in Destin we'll be at 14 teams next season.

Nine conference games or only two opponents from the opposite division is the question.

Also to note Arkansas is also on A&M's 2012 schedule already.
