Defensive Tackle
Hope Mills, N.C.
South View
HT: 6'4
WT: 285
Class: 2013

Looks to be one of the top DT's in the south for the 2013 class, already holds offers from Clemson, ECU, UNC, N.C. State, & South Carolina. Claims that Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Florida, Duke, & VT have been in contact.

Gilmore is a big body for a sophomore and has a good motor with a willingness to mix it up and get nasty. He's already as big as many of the 2012 defensive tackles and will add even more size as he matures and tightens up his body. He relies more on strength and power right now than quickness, but once he gets off the snap a bit faster and learns to mix up his moves, he could also be a special prospect.

Clemson has got on Gilmore early, looks to be making him a priority for the '13 class.

Is this guy gonna get much larger? Seems like this is a guy that Alabama turns into one of those Marcell Darius types. But not if he keeps getting huger. 285 is plenty big for his age.

“I have offers from East Carolina, NC State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Clemson, and Tennessee. I am also hearing Auburn, Oregon, Maryland, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Purdue, and Nebraska,” he said.

UNC has had a great DL the past few years, does anyone know if CSP has pulled any of those guys?

Just to name a few ... R Quinn, Q Coples, K Martin, D Paige-Moss, T Powell

Now that we are getting back to a respectable DL would be great to start adding some more top notch talent!!

UNC also did a lot of shady **** to get some of those players into school under John Blake, especially Marvin Austin. They will not continue to recruit at that level on the defensive side of the ball without Blake there.

Top 5 shady programs eastern U.S. in last 5 years. UNC, FSU, Barn, Miss State, and Arkansas imo. That is in no particular order.

I always knew that shady deals and college football was always out there, just kind of kept quiet. I read the DGB article about some of the stuff Arkansas was doing and that was just nuts! Arkansas boosters making a "large donation" to the high school of DGB? Really? LMAO!!

Of course, if he would have made the donation to DGB's church it would have been A-OK.

Friend who is a UNC fanatic told me Pittman was their best coach & recruiter by far when grilled him about him.

Said Marvin Austin was all Blake.

Can not remember for sure what names he said Pittman brought in - but know Quinn was one. Said his recruits he got for the Oline were ridiculous. Think he said he had South Carolina/North Carolina/Kansas JUCOs and cherry picked other places.

Showed me a video of UNCs signing coverage I posted on another thread here #206: Link

Directions may not be right now but should not be that hard to find. Look for the video titled Signing Day Live Football 02/02/11

Edit:
Here is #206 from other thread I posted directions on.

Friend who is a UNC fan showed me this video of Pittman on UNC signing day coverage last year. Here it is if anyone wants to see it:

Little bit of work but worth it:

Could not get the specific video with Pittman in it to come up when the link does - so have to do the following:

1. When the page comes up - Where it says VIEW BY: select sport & then click football from the left side column.

2. Find page 16 on the list of available videos towards the middle of the screen and click on 16.

3. In 1st row of available videos click on 1st one titled Signing Day Live Football 02/02/11.

Pittman's parts are at about the 48:00 and 2:39:00 segments.

Tried to start a new thread on the football board on Pittman so people could see the video but it would not let me.

I put the link on a thread already started on that board but did not think anyone noticed it.

So when I saw the thread on the recruiting board about Gilmore asking about Pittman I put a link there hoping people might see it there.

Maybe somebody else can start it's own thread on the football board because I thought it was really cool also.

Stovol - If you are asking me to "split this into a pittman thread" - sorry I hardly ever post on forums so I am clueless.

Why does Florida do so well in NC?

I'm not an expert, but I am originally from NC. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that there is no dominant football program in the state and it isn't the most exotic of places either. I think a lot of the kids are enamored of that Florida sunshine and bikini-clad babes, or something. Now, in basketball, it is a different story: there are clear allegiances. Football, however, is up for grabs. And to be honest, I see more Tennessee gear sported around than Florida when I'm back home. Not a definitive answer for you, I know, but that's my best guess.

:hi:

Hopefully with Graham and Pittman, we can make our way back into the Carolinas.
