Per 247 article, Coach Sal & Ansley are recruiting him. They are wanting him as a Cornerback. He has heard a lot of good things about the program & facilities. He likes that we play in the SEC. He wants to visit sometime this summer. He said we will likely make his top 8.

"Kirk Garner, DB, Good Counsel: Garner did very well considering all the defensive backs played "off" coverage. He demonstrated great recovery speed and really didn't get beat deep all day. Garner played the ball well by turning his hips, adjusting quickly and rising up like a receiver to knock passes away. He showed the ability to change direction, roam sideline-to-sideline and undercut routes as well." - US Army Combine Jan 2012

From the new article on VQ, Garner really likes the coaching staff (especially Coach Sal) and would like to visit this summer. Doesn't know when he'll release a top group, but admitted that Tennessee is a school standing out.

I hope we win a bunch of games this year, and flip his teammate, Dorian O'Daniel, from Clemson...as well as landing his other teammate, Kendall Fuller. I think that if Garner is a take, then that may be a bad sign that we missed on one of Fuller, Ramsey, or Alexander. JMO.

Garner plays a lot of safety in high school because Fuller and Stefon Diggs locked down the corner last year, but he looked great in one-on-ones and skeleton. He has average size but overcomes that with good instincts, an aggressive, gambling style that led to a few interceptions. He has good closing speed. This was his coming out party as a cornerback and he really raised his stock.

Garner is a good player. He is certainly a take and his teammate is one of the best players in the country.

Got a feeling this kid may end up in Orange. If he doesn't that means we're going to pull a monster DB class. I think Garner will end up a four star prospect too.

Garner is down to 6 schools (claims 27 offers)
Michigan State, Tennessee, Michigan, Virginia, Purdue and Penn State.
He has only visited one of those schools, Virginia.

Ok you're right. It's top 6. Saw the "three" star in the tweet and mind read it as top three schools. My bad. Carry on

My solid top six are Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, Penn State, Virginia and Tennessee. All those schools are giving me the opportunity to play early, and that's what I want to hear from the places recruiting me …

Then I like Tennessee because they have a lot of players graduating, so I can step into that lineup and have a shot to play early on. Plus that's an SEC school right there …
