"Coach (Derrick) Ansley and coach Staley have been talking to me," Garland said. "I used to play for Hutchinson when coach Staley coached there and then he got a job at Tennessee and he's been writing me since he's been there and has told Tennessee about me."
"They've told me they're looking for a player to come in and make a big impact in the secondary. They give me a couple of things that I can play nickel back, their star back, free safety or corner and just told me any one that I wanted to play just make the best of it," Garland said. "I like it when a coach tells me that because then I can surprise them of what I can do. I'm here to make plays."
"Ever since I left high school, now everything's not new to me. When schools offer me I already know what I want," Garland said. "I just want to know if I'm a candidate to start. I'm looking for coaching prestige and academics."
