'13 JUCO DB Khambrel Garland

Why is CBJ not pursuing more of these "leftover" players with authority? Forget their past...its time we step out of the box and do whatever it takes to win. If that means giving a kid a second chance, then I say go for it! What do we have to lose at this point. We are immune to disappointing and bad news....taking a chance on one of these kids and it backfiring wouldnt even phase us to say the least lol

Not happening imo. If you watched his press conf it jumps out at you the number of times he stressed the quality of the kids character being important. I definitely believe in second chances as much as the next guy, but look at the track record of how that worked out, especially last year. A couple kids aren't going to make the difference in us winning an SEC title next year, I'd rather them focus on getting the kids they want in here for the next cycle as opposed to reaching for the '13 class, jmo.

I'm pretty sure the coaches have their reasons for which recruits they decide to recruit. Us fans don't know what all is truly going on behind the scenes & what those reasons are.

CBJ stated they were being extremely selective with the '13 recruits. He also said they didn't want to regret taking a player down the road just to fill the class if they don't fit their system.

Dooley said the same thing.

Good point. However, I think its pretty clear that Dooley and Jones go about their business in pretty different ways.

I hope he means it. Attrition is obnoxious. Losing Bonner, Taylor, and Phillips will be an issue for our defense in two seasons.

Dooley did say the same thing. He also had a thin class, and only last year was able to field a good team which he didn't turn around.

My point is, I think the kids that CDD pulled do not reflect CDD's mistakes on coaching. I believe the kids we have plus the kids we added have the ability to surprise everyone.

CDD may be a bad coach but I never thought of him as a bad recruiter. Now I do believe he knew or was told he was gone and couldn't recruit because of it. Maybe he didn't want to lie to the recruits, maybe he couldn't answer the questions they had about the future or maybe he just gave up. But before that he won over recruits more than running them off. Too many do tend to forget this.
