'13 FL RB AJ Turman (UGA commit)

With him and Grayson visiting tommorow I would love ot get commitments from both of these guys as ou Rbs for this class.

They desperately need at least 2 quality RB's in this class. I dont know how picky they can afford to be, especially when none of the guys on the board with offers have ever really named Tennessee their leader.

i for one dont see the "desperate" need for two guys. i think we could take one good one and be fine.

next year we will have

SR- Neal
JR- lane, Smith and young
soph- Watson, hill and Bourque ( any of these three could redshirt too)

plus we have pig who will get some carries. thats 7.5 backs plus the incoming freshies. weve got a good balance of different styles and strengths.

We need some true RBs that can take a game over. And we need more than one.

I'd rather take Turman by himself and use the other spot on someone else.

Agreed, we are still in on Green and Henry, and Tenpenny is taking an official(not that we have much of a shot here). Getting Truman allows the coaches to let things play out a little longer and get a read on some higher rated prospects. Still have Folston out there as well.

well i think we have three on the roster capable of being that guy. lane and neal this year and bourque next year. plus we have those tweener guys like hill, young and howard that can be the specialty guys. hill is a bruiser for short yardage then the other two are great sweep/swing pass/ screen guys. im not saying we dont need some help im just saying its not make or break to get two studs. it would be nice but i think we have areas of more urgent need. of course the proof is in the pudding, those guys could come out this year, fall flat on their faces and make me sound like an idiot. i just dont think they will. i have faith in their talent and CJG's ability to get the best out of them.

Let's just say that this is the case. We still need a stable of horses rather than a few out grazing because you're always a few injuries away from having to euthanize one.

pretty well said lol. i still think we only need one more but point well taken. and by one i dont mean a folston or a grayson i mean one back like a henry, green, dye, kamara or even turman.

I like Foltson a lot. Grayson is a back I don't think we should've even offered. Turman is very underrated IMO.

Folston is a great all around back. He can run, block, and catch the ball outta the backfield. He has got some jets. I wasn't a big fan of Turman in the beginning but he has grown on me some.

I agree about grayson. But graham likes him apparently so I'm guessing he sees something. I like folston too just don't see him on the other guys levels.

Damn this guy runs with authority! Junior highlights are unbelievable, top of my RB board.

Exactly. People keep talking about better prospects but damn he is ranked right there beside Dye. Would take Turman first in a heartbeat. Kid is a beast.

No doubt Turman and Folston are on the A-list as far as RB's go that Tennessee has a shot at. What were those rumors a while back on Folston? Did he really try to commit and was put on hold? Or were those just some bad internet rumors?

IIRC, Rumors.

Tennessee again hosted one the of country's top running backs Friday when Rivals250 member A.J. Turman made his way up from Florida to check out the Vols.

After hosting numerous running back targets already this spring and summer, Tennessee again tried to impress one of the nation's best.

"It was nice. I got to see all the facilities. I got to talk to all of the coaches. It was a nice trip up here," Turman said.

With few visitors on campus, Turman was able to speak to all Tennessee coaches and spend a good deal of time with running backs coach Jay Graham. The message was clear; the Vols are looking for a talented running back to carry the rock for the Vols in the future.

"I think I talked to all of (the coaches). I can't think of anyone I didn't talk to. I talked to coach Graham a lot," Turman said. "They were just telling me how I should come and how I would fit in and fit into their offense and everything and they talked to me about the future and how the team is looking next year."

Turman said the Vols like the 6-foot, 205-pound running backs' power and that's what they are looking for as Derek Dooley continues to rebuild the Vols' roster.

"My power and how I could bring to the team at the running back position and lowering my shoulder and powering through," Turman said. "That's the big thing with the SEC now, big running backs and he was telling me how they were trying to head the offense that way and how I would fit into that."

Graham is spearheading Turman's recruitment and the two have developed a relationship over the past several months. Friday, Graham was giving him a preview of what the relationship would be like if Turman was to become a Vol.

"Our relationship is good. I talk to him on Facebook a lot," Turman said. "I talk to him about everything from (the) depth chart to the direction they're trying to take the team in the future and how that affects me. And then, me as a running back and how he could make me better and how he could develop me."

The highlight of the visit for Turman was touring the Vols' soon-to-be-finished additions to the football complex as well as touring Neyland Stadium.

"They're doing a lot of remodeling in the weight room and everything looks nice, that stood out," Turman said. "How big their stadium is, the whole tour, it was just real nice."

Turman has now visited Georgia and Tennessee in consecutive weekends and plans to see Florida State next weekend. For now, Turman said there is no top group and he's still evaluating his options.

"I'm still just looking around," Turman said. "Right now I'm just going to keep visiting schools and see how I feel so then I can narrow it down."

Turman added he will take all five official visits and the Vols are very likely to receive one of them.
