Michael Hutchings
De La Salle HS
Concord, CA
6'1"
215lbs
265 Bench
405 Squat
4.7 40 (2010)
4.32 Shuttle
31" Verticle

"He played at 6-0, 195-pound at outside linebacker as a sophomore, but he's grown more into his body and has three years to do it. Now he's up to 6-1, 210. Hutchings excelled in coverage and does a good job on his pass drops. He's also got very good, quick hands, and can catch the ball (which he did on offense). Tuck this name for down the line." -Brandon Huffman, Scout

Tennessee offered (recruited as OLB) Monday August 01, 2011

De La Salle, a prominent as well as perennial National football power (finished #1 in 2010 and currently ranked #3 for 2011 Max Preps), has a reputation for producing elite talent.
Former Vol (and NFL WA Redskin) All-American LB Kevin Simon was a Super-Prep All-American for De La Salle who played in the US Army All-Star Game w/ former fellow Vol RB Cedric Houston.

Former UMichigan and NFL NY Giants WR Amani Toomer may be De La Salle's most recognized Alum.

Another PAC-12 offer on the horizon for De La Salle's Hutchings? Oregon's the latest to express interest as SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12 interest continues...
ATM, CAL leads---Michigan and Tennessee are in his Top 5.

Vitals: Outside linebacker, Concord (Calif.) De La Salle, 6-2/215

Why he’s a five-star: Hailing from one of the most storied high school programs in the country, Hutchings is a high-effort, high-intensity linebacker that flies around the football field. A hard-hitter at the point of attack who also excels on offense on the high school level, Hutchings shows great instincts and is a perfect fit for the weakside linebacker role.

Recruitment: Hutchings already holds offers from most of the Pac-10 as well as several national programs. He insists that he is currently open but the in-state programs look to have the early leg up. He grew up a big fan of the USC program but California is also very much in the picture as is UCLA. Hutchings’ fellow linebacker at De La Salle, Michael Barton is currently a Cal commit in the 2012 class.

One of the first 5 star prospects for 2013.

Looks to be Cal/SC at moment. He's best friends with current 2012 Cal verbal LB Michael Barton. No read on his stance about staying in state vis a vis leaving the state.

I haven't watched his film or nothin yet but I like his size for a RB I don't know why maybe he has gotten a little faster since he last ran his 40... Are we recruiting him at RB or LB?

bump, is UT still in it for this guy?

I was in the Bay area on business last week and had a meeting with a guy - a UF grad - at one of our offices outside of Oakland. He told me that he ran into Dooley and some UT staff at a private airport right near Walnut Creek a few weeks ago.

Hoping he was out there pitching this guy on the program.

Ah, only a top 100 guy instead of a top 25 or top 50 guy! Kiffin and staff are slipping big time!
