Nebraska commitment Jonathan Cook with a pass break up against Jarren Johnson. Only prediction- he'll make my top performers list today.

Cover skills - good awareness, 'ball Hawk, good run support & use of the sideline, nice hip movement, aways watching the (players) eye's.
Tackling skills - he drops his man (takes the legs out), would like to see him (more) wrap up.

Can anyone offer insight to the level of competition Spanish Fort plays? BB?

From Rivals at AL-MS Allstar Classic

Jonathan Cook, the three-star cornerback from Spanish Fort (Ala.), is receiving a lot of praise from his teammates this week for his performance on the field. The Nebraska commitment won't see his recruitment slow down for the next two months. On Wednesday, he received an offer another SEC school.

"Tennessee offered me this morning," said Cook. "I spoke to coach Tommy Thigpen. He told me they really like me and want me up there. I have never visited Tennessee before. I plan on going up there in January for an official visit."

"Tennessee has a good program. They have a lot of history. I like the orange and white. They have a big stadium and a lot of fans."

Cook plans on taking an official visit to Tennessee and Ole Miss in January. He is waiting to see if Alabama and/or Auburn decide to offer him. Both in-state programs have shown interest in the highly talented in-state recruit.

Yep solid kid and currently committed to Nebraska. Neither AU or UA offered. As another pointed out grades are a concern. Also some of you that live in AL may remember in the early summer a story that came out about a dozen or more HS students in Mobile being involved in a investigation regarding the ACT. They all threw up redflags when their ACT scores came out really high but yet their GPAs were really low and they all took the ACT on the same day.

Kid has the skill but a lot of sites had said very good chance he may not qualify.

Let me add before you someone says it. Yes every UA fan I know wants this kid and are scratching their head as why he does not have an offer. Kid and family grew up UA fans and he has been to about every home game UA has had this year. Most UA fans are not as high on M White and want this kid over White.

Whoever lands this kid and if he qualifies will get a gem for their class. This kid can flat out play.

He will probably get a grey shirt offer from Bama.

If Eddie Lacy can get in school anybody can.

Its a different situation now with the limitation on numbers now. Bama was able to take a risk on Lacy back then and wait until he qualified because of the oversigning. Now its a lil harder to do unless u can back count.

Only way he gets just a greyshirt from Bama now is if they somehow get Bell and Ramsey. Something I dont see happening. So I think he will get a legit scholarship especially since his stock has risen and he has passed White on their board. That wasnt the case this summer.

Ok guys, I've got a close friend I grew up with that's an asst coach at Spanish Fort & just talked to him about Cook. He said the kid is the real deal. Said if he was a for sure qualifier everyone would be on him. Said he'd likely be the best wr in the state if they would've played him there. He doesn't really like Nebraska, said it was cold & boring there. He likes both UA & AU. I can't really say what I was told about about the UA situation but he definitely wouldn't have to greyshirt there if he qualifies. He also said Cook is excited about UT interest.

DB JONATHAN COOK, SPANISH FORT (Ala.)
There isn't another defensive back in this game getting more praise from teammates than Jonathan Cook. Multiple receivers have named Cook as their toughest challenge in 1-on-1s. Cook has excellent size, speed and does a great job turning with his hips. Cook is also very physical at the line of scrimmage. He doesn't bite on plays and has locked down his opposition on most occasions. Cook's stock is on the rise.
