Finebaum's ability to flap his gums greatly exceeds his cognitive skills, so to speak. To simplify, Finebaum yields to the mammalian desire to assert individuality by attracting attention. Unfortunately, for Finebaum, "attract attention" usually implies "project a stream of lewd images of stupidity, irrational thought, and a general state of obtuseness, in a mock-Olympian firmament". He has conceived the project of reigning over opinions and of conquering neither kingdoms nor provinces but the human mind. If this project succeeds then refractory, deluded sods will be free to convince others that wretched gutter-dwellers are the "chosen people" of scriptural prophecy. Even worse, it will be illegal for anyone to say anything about how Finebaum's satraps were recently seen giving rise to power-hungry, jealous pseudo-intellectuals. That's not a one-time accident or oversight. That's Finebaum's policy.
Paul Finebaum, allow me to introduce myself. I'm one of the victims of your abysmal beliefs. As a note of explanation for other readers of this letter: Finebaum would sell his soul in return for the possibility of wealth and status. I guess I should start by saying that even when the facts don't fit, Finebaum sometimes tries to use them anyway. He still maintains, for instance, that the majority of gormless reprobates are heroes, if not saints. If we intend to defend democracy, we had best learn to recognize its primary enemy and not be afraid to stand up and call him by name. That name is Paul Finebaum.
