Is roughly what Pruitt's buyout will cost if he is fired after this season.

4.8 million of that is due to the extension he was given before this season.

He had 4 seasons left on his contract when he was extended. It was extended by 2 years to leave him with 6 seasons (including this one).

It's just kind of mind boggling to me that he was extended during this pandemic.

That's exactly why he isn't going anywhere. The athletic department is trying to save 1.6 million by having coaches take a pay cut. There is no way they are affording any buyout without the Haslams stroking a check which means they get to choose

Recruiting is always the excuse used for extensions, but our recruiting class was already almost full when he was extended. And it certainly didn't seem to help recruiting afterwards.

Keeping it at 4 years is fine if it is deserved. But keeping it at 6 years is absurd. Especially given everything else going on.

It should cost Fulmer his job.

Well that may explain the lack of effort the coaches exhibit currently.

Haslam will not give a nickel towards this buyout after we thwarted the Schiano hire. We are stuck.

There's also no mitigation clause, meaning even if he gets another job we're on the hook for the full 12 mil.
