I think it makes since why CDD wants him to push back his announcement back after his OV. Extra time to influence his decision.

This is the most obvious explanation, but there are other possibilities. Perhaps someone else is going to commit after O'Brien's visit, and Dooley wants to make a splash. Or, perhaps somebody is going to commit close to O'Brien's date, and Dooley doesn't want to steal his thunder. I know, they are long shots, but we can hope.

Has he visited before? It might not mean anything in terms of where we stand. It's been documented in the past where Dooley doesn't want guys to commit unless they have seen everything. And on top of that, sometimes he won't let them commit on the spot, telling them to think about it before just instinctively pulling the trigger.

He has been on campus multiple times.

Not if he's picking UT it's not. Arnett did the same thing last fall.

If he is picking UT Oct 7th why would Dooley want him to push it back till after the visit.

Sounds like Dooley wants to get him on campus one more time to try and sway him before he goes public with a commit to Michigan. Much harder to switch him if he has already announced to another team. IMO, JMO

The fact that he didn't commit during his visit Notre Dame game was good for Tennessee. But he hasn't given us anything new.

As I mentioned in another thread Josh Hemholdt knows that kid really well and I would say he's pretty plugged in. He's saying to day that Tennessee has a slight lead.

I understand the free visit stuff, but why would the kid commit to one school one week and visit another the next week, and all of this is planned out weeks before. Wouldn't you expect the visit to be a little different after you committed to another team the week before? Why bother.

I think if he commits to Michigan he will cancel the OV. If he commits to UT, then obviously he would still come. He couldn't cancel his OV to UT at this point, otherwise it would be a giveaway of his plans. I still think he commits to UT though.

I think that if Dooley has influence on his date of commitment then it has to be UT. If he was going to Michigan then why would he care what Dooley thought?

I have a hard time believing that stuff really happens. Not saying that it doesn't, I just think all that is too far fetched. Who knows Dooley might tell ever recruit when to commit.

Sure, you can make that argument. I just think this will play out like Arnett's situation. IMO, he told the coaches he was a Vol this summer, nothing has changed, and he will announce Vol in October and then visit for the LSU game a week later. I could be totally wrong and he might pick U of M but from following his recruitment this entire time, I just feel like he's a Vol.

Hold the presses until I check with Bill King to see if he has any pertinent info on O'Brien. Couldn't reach King but it appears my two yard dogs have bypassed the 50 gallon trough of fresh water and have finished drinking salt water out of the pool, I'll update everyone after they opine on where Danny is committing.

Odd that Dooley would ask him to push it back. Doesnt make sense and honestly not sure I believe Brent on that one. Hes talking out both sides of his mouth, saying we lead per someone else and per Dooley he wants him to wait to announce.

I think atp Dooley would be more than happy to have him commit right now. I guess the only scenario I see him not would be wanting to sit down and make 100% sure hes all vol but good grief all the kid has gone through as far as visits. I think if Danny is ready to commit its pretty solid, hes given both schools multiple looks and opportunities, especially Michigan.

I'm not sure either. Maybe Dooley wants good news after the LSU game , win or lose.

Guy on Rockytop.com volchat claims he is a Michigan fan with inside information and is conceding Obrien to us. Says congrats on pickup up Obrien! tifwiw

Well let's see... he has not committed to the staff... he was blown away at the Mich-ND game... reports are he could go either way or Mich could be the leader.

Why wouldn't you want him to wait until you can work on him with an official visit?
