I don't doubt that Gray is very fast, but I can find no documentation to support Barton Simmons' claim that he has recorded a "10.4 personal best in the 100 and a third place finish in the state championships in the 100."

According to fl.milesplit.com, Gray was not a finalist in the past two 4A state track meets and his PR in the 100 is 11.25.

I received a text the other day that Boyd Anderson had to forfeit 6 games and their district title for playing ineligible players. They got booted from the state playoffs. Hope Gray was not part of that mess.

The reason Gray is a 5.5 3* is b/c Rivals has not evaluated him. He had no film to go off of until a week ago. He didn't go to many camps either.

Also, Thunder is was wrong Gray is not a EE.

Where did you read this?

I thought about starting a thread asking Niebuhr or Nee what they think of Gray

It's just obvious IMO, Rivals had no film of him until a few weeks ago, he didn't go to any big camps & they couldn't have seen him before considering this is his 2nd year of organized football.

It's kinda like the Henderson situation this summer.

I'd expect Gray to be a 5.7 3* at the end of this month.

Curt Maggitt's recruitment was completely different than Gray's.

No idea what you meant by this.
When Maggitt committed to us, it was very much like this. Even the guys that are quote "up on recruiting" had no clue Maggitt was a possibility for UT. His commitment caught everyone by surprise, like this one.

Everyone knew who Maggitt was, we just didn't know he had interest in UT.

What? Maggitt was a top 250 player, everyone knew who he was.

Maggitt took an OV to UT a few weeks before NSD and was one of the top players left on our board. Everyone knew who he was.

Maggitt's recruitment is in no way similar to Gray's imo. Maggitt was far from under the radar. Only thing that came out of nowhere was his interest in Tennessee. Teams from all around the country knew who Maggitt was.

I did not word that well. What I was trying to get across was when he committed, everyone was taken by surprise. Few if any, outside of the staff thought we had any chance at him whatsoever. His commitment came out of the blue just like this one, was the point I was making. Again, not worded well initially.

Crazy b/c all Summer I wanted most was to land a Deon Bush/Tracey Howard type CB from Florida

He isn't on their level, but his tools are Very impressive.

I'm pretty excited about this pick up. He looks like he could potentially develop into a lockdown corner for us down the road.

You see a 4 star level too Jay? He'll be on their level after coaching. Especially having only played 2 years of football. I'm loving this committ. He also could grow another inch or two. I know I grew an inch and a half from 18 to 19. He's explosive as a player though. He'll be good along with Coleman as starters in the future. Then if we add that Bama boy Elston it will really be on.

Potentialy a good pickup/diamond in the rough. Will be very interested to see how he does at UT. This will be one to follow for sure.

Nice pickup. Funny reading through this thread watching people go from wtf and then talking themselves into he's really good.

Just hope he's not another Art Evans.

Until he has taken all of his OVs, soft verbal is probably accurate. Also I suspect he will get more offers before NSD. That having been said, I think he, along with the other CB recruits we are after, knows that playing time as a freshmen is a real possiblity. I would say at this point he stays a Vol.
