Scout.com: Shaquille Thompson Profile

“Tennessee said that I’m atop their recruiting board for 2012,” said Thompson. “They’re talking about offering me."

- Scout

Thompson claims a top 3 of Cal, UCLA, and Tennessee.

He has offers from USC, Cal, UCLA, and UNLV.

Hm, seems like we are the only team going after him from the south but i've always liked our approach of going after kids from cali.

Awesome looking prospect. Judging by his top 3, it sounds like we just needs to build a strong relationship with him to make him feel comfortable going to a school so far from hom.

Nice size and measurables for an upcoming junior.

I also find it humorous that we are getting to that point in time where 15-17 year old kids are named Shaq. I'm sure we'll be pretty high on Lebron Thompson's list in 2026 or so as well.

Don't forget his brother, Kobe Thompson.

we need to be on the oxford trio more than anyone else. A monster OL(name escapes me), a star linebacker in Kwon Alexander, and one of my favorites from that class Trae Elston(a DB).

He's the brother of former Cal CB Syd'Quan Thompson.

I'd be very surpised if he doesn't end up at Cal.

Although rumor has it he may end up being too big for secondary and be a better fit for LB.

All the in-state schools have already offered. Cal is in strong position obviously. Hopefully we can prove something to him over the next year since he is atop of the recruiting board for us.

I thought the same thing.

he going to be a very good player for us.

I thought this kid looked really good running the ball as well in his game on ESPNU. He will be a stud.

Hey guys I live less then 10 miles from Grant high school and have seen him play in person
He is a STUD can run the ball, play defense and can flat out make people miss. Definitely will get bigger and still will keep the speed an quick moves.
Will try and keep you updated as much as I can

Easy to see though... Shaq went pro in 92' if I recall and he was all the rage. It would take 18-19 years for it to start showing up in the recruiting circles.

Look for an influx of Kobe's in a couple of years and Lebron's a few years after... fact.

Expressed an interest in Tennessee, but has yet to be offered.

Scout.com "He has exceptional balance, instincts and closing speed. He is a sure tackler that seems to be more comfortable closing on a ball carrier than jamming a man at the line. Could play all 4 spots in the defensive secondary" - Scott Kennedy
Sounds like a prospect for safety...

Imagine Tennessee adding both Thompson and Smith to the secondary in 2012...
