'12 AL DT Justin Shanks

I'm really surprised that we arent more of a factor here especially w/ Shanks family member being on staff.

I'll wait for a public de-commitment from FSU before I start thinking that Shanks will sign at UT.

oci has hinted otherwise. just because he hasn't publicly de-committed means nothing, aka REMEMBER GABE WRIGHT? HE WAS A DOUCHE, although he was NOT committed to the vols or auburn, he was saying things to both staffs. Now with the recent coup of de-commitments from FSU, its not hard to look at how Shanks is saying, screw this, it was b/w UT and FSU when I decided, now FSU blows balls, they were selling me on being the best, not rebuilding like UT was and OCI who is connected apparently with the staff says that Shanks will go along way with OBRIEN a UT commit. END OF SAGA

I'm aware of what ocivol has been saying. Seems like there is more message board talk about FSU recruits decommitting than that actually happening. Did M. Edwards actually decommit?

dude FSU is a shinking ship.

"Although Mario Jr. has not decommitted from the Seminoles -- his father reiterated this Sunday -- the pledge is tenuous." from espn article here.

Mario Edwards leaning toward OU after Red River rout - ESPN

To me thats a de-commitment.

here is the formal def. of tenuous

adj
1. insignificant or flimsy a tenuous argument
2. slim, fine, or delicate a tenuous thread
3. diluted or rarefied in consistency or density a tenuous fluid

Hubbs said he would count against the 25 if offered a scholly late last week.

It is my understanding that if needed, Bullard will take one for the team and remain a non-scholarship player. His family is reasonably well off and can afford to pay his tuition without it becoming a burden for them. That would give one more scholarship that could be used this year.

Sounds like we have a new strategy. Recruit all the best rich kids, then tell them they can't have a scholly, then give their scholly to equally or more talented kids that aren't rich. Limits be damned! We could end up with 120 kids on a roster that are SEC caliber!

Guess I have too much time on my hands, but I just thought of a situation and was wondering to myself if it was/could happen. What if a school told a kid to walk on, pay his own scholly, then, say after a years time after the graduates/leaves, the family gets reimbursed?
Could this happen?

Sure, with a major NCAA violation.

Don't see why not...UT could reimburse him and could even do so in excess of the actual cost of the scholly...this is known as the Auburn Option. UT could also reimburse him for clothes, books, car, etc...this is known as a Bama Grant.
