'11 MS JUCO DB Izauea Lanier (Tennessee Commit)

You're relying on Gordon...

I believe Gordon played pretty well towards the end of the year last year in the nickel I remember him breakin up a few passes and supporting the run well. I'm sure I'm not remembering any of the plays he didn't do well on but I think he will contribute in the nickel in sals defense

... Mr. Lanier if you are reading this, I'm just joking, but..................

He ain't Fast Twitch, didn't want him anyway.

In a defense that rarely let's the Nickel guy play deep. Remember J.Arenas blitzing and playing short area defense the whole season for Bama???? I think Gordon can do it.

I understand your argument. This is my point, everyone seems to be relying on a guy that has produced very little his entire career. Moreover, just because we have a new defense that fits his skills better, everyone is assuming he'll produce. I'll play it safe and not get my hopes up.

He's played well in short area it's when he has to turn and run when he gets in trouble.

Gordon had a nice game against Vandy last year. :)

Based off the last two years, it's really tough to say Lanier is better than Gordon. I do believe it is possible that Lanier developed himself more this Spring, but just comparing the two off previous games: they're about equal.

its a position in Nick Saban's defense.

Hibachi Arenas played it and Menzie played it last season.

they both played it completely differently because of their strengths/weaknesses.

Thanks. I appreciate the insight you, BB, flowd, and others with a great amount of in-depth football knowledge bring to VN. :hi:

For me it's not that we lost a great player b/c I don't think Lanier was a great talen, I actually think Bonner & Coleman are more talented. It's just that we lost a guy w/ quality SEC experience & it hurts our depth.

Coleman is very talented but we saw last year how hard it is for a freshmen to come in & be good as a DB.
