All-purpose back
Punta Gorda, Florida
Ht:5'10"
Wt:175 lbs
40:4.4 secs
Class:2011 (High School)

Look for Bellamy to be a major possibility in the 2011 class. He is a 5'11" 175lb RB out of Punta Gorda FL. He runs a 4.36 40, and he's a screamer on the track as well. Bellamy will be a top prospect next year.
He's got a nice compact build - more like a slot receiver than a running back. He's got top end speed and quickness. Early he was catching the ball very well during positional drills, but then fell off a little later on during the event. What stood out about him was his change of direction during drills.

I know it is probably to early to ask this, but do we have any chance at him?

UF loves this kid. He spoke in interviews of wanting to be used similarly to how Percy was used. A lot of people down here like to compare him to Chris Johnson because of his speed and size. He is also close to people at UF. I have read that his cousin is Andre Debose and he has said in interviews that Jeff Demps is like a brother to him. He is also friends with Trey Burton.

However, it remains to be seen whether he wants to play out of the spread. Rumor has it that he is warming up to the idea of doing what Percy did with playing some RB and some in the slot. We shall see but I can't see the Vols not at least try to get in on him, he is simply to good to pass up.

Charlotte junior running back Mike Bellamy is a 5-foot-10, 175 pound electrifying star who has very little trouble exhibiting that lightning quickness. Last season, he rushed for 2,160 yards, averaging 9.97 yards per carry and finished with 31 touchdowns.

"One word to describe him? Speed, speed, speed. He's probably one of the fastest backs in the state. This kid has legit speed (4.3, 4.4 area). He'd be perfect in a spread office. If you get him in open space, he can be very dangerous. He can flat out fly. If I had to compare him with another player in the past four or five years, it would be C.J. Spiller. His change of direction is also impressive, coupled wit that speed, you just have to hold your breath. On the recruiting front, this kid will want to play right away and isn't afraid of competition. This kid will have offers from everybody."

Mike Bellamy goes to Charlotte High School - he is a Tarpon. Coach Hinshaw graduated from CHS and is one of my fellow Tarpons. So you never know.

I have seen Bellamy play in person. He is very, very fast, but also very, very thin. I think he is probably closer to 160 than 170 or 175.

The only thing that will keep Bellamy from being a Gator is his desire for lots of early playing time. As Demps and Rainey will be seniors here in 2011 he'd likely have to wait a year (redshirt or no) before he'd be used much.

Whether its a good idea or not, I think Rainey will go to the NFL next year. Moody will be gone as well.

Only Demps, Gilislee, and Brown will still be on the roster at RB, unless of course Travon Van or Matt Elam move there.

even if Rainey jumps to the NFL that will still be three physically ready running backs with serious speed ahead of Bellamy. Bellamy would have a great opportunity open up after Demps is gone but the question is whether he'll be willing to wait a year.

Bellamy, 5-10 and 175 pounds, is getting bigger and - more important - stronger, especially in the upper body. He is also becoming a better threat out of the backfield in the passing game. Bellamy will be one of those players who will be able to name his school. He currently has scholarship offers from FSU, USF, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Cal, Tennessee, West Virginia, Arkansas, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon and many others.

"For me, playing as a freshman is important and whichever school gives me the best chance to play as a freshman will be the place I pick."
"So far I really like everybody in the SEC, but the ones that have stood out have been Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee."

Here's an idea: discuss florida crap on your own board.

Our staff is full of stud recruiters. Napier, Dabo, Steele, Harbison, and the Scotts are ballers on the recruiting trail. They have been working on the '11 class for a long time, since they had everybody in the '10 class (besides Parker and Howard) locked up before the season.

Or maybe he has the dream of playing in the NFL one day and knows that UF wont get him there, hope mack brown pans out because UF and running backs dont mix.:)

“I want to go to Alabama and USC (officially). I’m just going to take an unofficial to Clemson. I’m going to go up to Tennessee. I’m going to go to Miami, but I don’t know. I’m just kind of playing it as it goes,” he said.
