'11 FL ATH Kevin Grooms

Sorry if this has already been asked but does anyone know what type of speed Grooms has? I really havent kept up with him much.

none of the three sites posts a 40 time but espn has this to say..."This kid is a missile of an athlete. Grooms possesses some of the best sudden quickness and stop/start ability of any prospect in this class."

"I'm supposed to be going to Tennessee in December, Kansas and Florida State in January," Grooms said of upcoming official visits.

When asked if he would likely choose between those three schools, Grooms said, "Probably so, yes. I need to go on my visits and just see where I fit in, see how the system is and the players they are recruiting at my position."

Did u ever find out if FSU had cooled on this guy, Jay? If just between us and Kansas, I got to say I like our chances, if we miss on the three we have ahead of him.

He always mentioning FSU in all his recruiting updates. However, FSU hasn’t offered. Yet. My sources tell me, FSU hasn’t let a single week go by without talking with Grooms. Once a week Grooms gets a call from the Noles. His main recruiter is Eddie Gran.- Nole247..... Numbers may hurt FSU with Kevin because they are already at 19 commits and even with three players leaving the program and the Sr they just don't have the spots open( maybe 5-6 max).

From everything i've been hearing on grooms, he really likes UT. he always says we are his leader. espn is in love with him, they have him listed as a 4 star 81 overall i think. he is another one of those speedsters that can be a scat back, returner or cornerback. dooley can put him where he feels we need the most help so it would prolly be CB and returner. anyone have any new info on him?

Everyone says this guy has real good speed but from the film I saw I just dont see it, Bigelow & Bellamy are the speedsters to me & Grooms does'nt have that type of speed.

Jmoore as of right now, what rb do you think we get to close the class at that position. Or do we?

The staff really really wants a speed back in this class but I just cant see them getting one. Bellamy, Bigelow, Huggins, & Grooms are the main ones we are after & Grooms seems like the best bet at getting him. I just dont see us landing another RB at this point.

That is semi-disappointing. I really wish Oku would have had a better sophomore campaign. After Poole, playmakers at the RB position really drop off the table. I am super excited with the addition of Tom Smith. He seems like the real deal. Adding Kevin Grooms (because he is the most realistic choice) would be nice as well.

Yeah, I still want to hold out hope that Clemson guts their offensive staff and we can snag Bellamy toward the end (a la Da'Rick Rogers). Realistically, I'd prefer another LB or DT at this point over a speed back if we can't get one in the top tier.

I've seen Williams appear in the last couple games. Hopefully we can get him back on track, he showed a lot of promise as a freshman.

And you're right. Grooms isn't on the same level as Bellamy or Bigelow.

Williams never had elite speed.

He's a good back but he's not a threat to score from anywhere on the field.

Tennessee is lacking in that department.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder, who also plays cornerback, has double-digit offers, including from Florida, Florida State, FIU, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Kansas and Kansas State.

Florida State would offer Grooms the chance to stay in state, as well as compete against Miami in the ACC.

Tennessee, he said, "Is a good school, football system, football town and they need a player like me to come in and change the system
