Did they fire Darren McFarland? I caught the end of a caller tonight that "Darren got a raw deal" and solo host Willy Daunic didn't really reply much, so I'm assuming McFarland was canned.

Interesting, Darren is not on their website now. I guess so. Maybe ESPN didn't like him now that they're partners.

They let him go because of "Economics."

I am mad. He was the best out of all of the homers.

I am shocked.

Guess money was running low. Couldnt afford to keep somebody, so they let Darren go.

Darren was someone that grew on me. When he first came on the scene I couldn't stand him, but over the years I got used to him. He did have a tendency to talk way too much; he would go on and on sometimes, plus repeat himself too much. Many times I'd say to myself "I wish someone would punch him to tell him to shut up".

At the same time, he at least seemed to speak his mind moreso and actually have an opinion, unlike Willy who is as vanilla as it gets. I guess if one had to go it would be Darren, because you know Willy isn't going anywhere, being Plaster's apprentice and all.

560 AM is much better, but I can hardly get them unless I am at my desk. When I'm on the road, I'm forced to listen to "the Zone" if I want to hear sports talk.

I'm going to resurrect this thread a bit...

One, I found Darren, sort of. It appears he has an hour long NASCAR show on WLAC 1510 with Liz Allison, whom he did an hour show once a week on his pregame show anyway. I've never heard it, mainly because I'm not much of a NASCAR fan, but at least he still has something going on.

Two, now I really think he got a raw deal since not long after he left, 104.5 not only introduced the new show 3 Hour Lunch (replacing Jim Rome), but now on Plaster's show they regularly have some 3rd guy (can't remember his name). Maybe that guy is a lot cheaper, I don't know, just seems weird to have a 3rd guy show up after you claim you can't afford McFarland.
