Anyone else going to welcome 10 Years back to Knoxville?

Anyone unfamiliar with the band who digs heavy, but melodic tunage, give them a shot.

Valarium (old Electric Ballroom), Wednesday at 7 PM.

I haven't been yet, but I have heard they have some security issues. It's probably just like Bluecats was.

security runs around the place like they're the KPD, yet i helped two kids sneak in. the place is a joke, but has great sound and a nice set up.

i'm was debating on going to see Gov't Mule there tomorrow night, but i may be passing.

I checked out their tech specs on the website, and they look to have done their homework. Definitely a step-up from the old Ballroom gig.

What do you mean by "the place is a joke?" Just curious.

security is a joke. i've seen them throw people out who were acting perfectly normal.

like i said, they walk around tossing people out for no reason like they're the KPD, but i managed to help two people sneak in through the fence right in front of the main entrance. the "cop" watching the 18 year old girls that he left his spot right in front of said gate to check them out.

Weird. Don't expect me or mine to be a problem. Is it nice since the renovations?

other than that, great place to see a show. kinda in a sketchy part of town, but it's well lit.

I've been to the old EB many times to see shows over the past 12 years or so. Never had a problem. I guess that goes back to the old "you'll find trouble if you're looking" mantra. I've always thought that the place could do well if they fixed it up. With the sound system, the backstage areas, and the space, it could be a great venue for mid-level bands, DJ's, etc.

Oh, and it's not really in a "sketchy" part of town, it's just hard to get to. I've always driven through the Braden's parking lot.

If you're calling any venue in Knoxville "shady," then you need to travel more.

I've been plenty of places all around the country and the world. Certain areas of Knoxville scare me walking at night. The area the Valarium is in is one of them. It's about 300 yards from my apartment.

i've never had any trouble either, but i've seen a few things going on around there that i didn't want any part of and i'll leave it at that. there's really nothing to worry about, just keep an eye out. that's all.

I heard that same thing. That security throws people out for no reason. It was the same way at Bluecats. I think the person who owned Bluecats bought the Valarium. That could be wrong tho. I can't wait to see Disturbed there. That will be sick.

Great show!! Fair to Midland was good and 10 Years was great. The Valarium is nice. It beats Bluecats by far. I heard the sound inside there was not as good as Bluecats, but I thought the exact opposite. The sound was real good IMO. They have it fixed up pretty good. They have flat screens on the wall and have built a balcony up top with a full bar. If you go in from the Western Ave. exit, its not difficult to get to at all. They have it fixed up pretty good. Disturbed there will be crazy....

I enjoyed it, too. Fair to Midland really surprised me -- I think I'll be picking up an album on iTunes. 10 Years sounded terrific. They even did a little "unplugged" stint (ala the acoustic EP).

The newly-renovated Valarium is a great place for a show. Wide open, carpeted, great sound, smoke-free inside, and not hot at all (in contrast to the freakish sweatbath that was the old EB). Parking was a little tight, but we parked in the Braden's lot and got right out.

Yea I bought a Fair to Midland CD there. They were selling them for $10 plus it came with an autographed poster. I figured you couldn't beat that. It says on the back of the CD that Serj Tankian produced the album. After seeing them live, I can defiantely see that pairing.

They are an outstanding band. I wish they would come to Cookeville. Let us know how it is Doc.
