10 Texas @ 5 Georgia on ABC

About like us, except we actually decided to show up for the GA game. Heup just outdid himself in the last minutes.
We have nothing to hang our heads about. Our 3 losses are to 3 teams that are about to be 25-5 and we had a chance to win all 3 games. Georgia has got better though. It was a good move for us playing them earlier this year, it almost paid off.

In all seriousness, you guys have a very good team. You didn’t get the breaks you needed this season. Call it bad luck or whatever, but it certainly could have been different.

For what it’s worth, which is nothing, I would not want to face TN in the Playoff. It’s football, and TN just didn’t get the breaks this season. Maybe next year will be different

The announcers are crazy - Texas is not getting in with 3 losses just like we are not getting in with 3 losses - unless complete chaos happens.

Positives is they would have win over Vandy, neutral win vs OU, and win over A&M if they got to 9-3. That's a strong collection of wins.

Downside, they are 7th in the SEC pecking order (behind A&M, UGA, OU, Ole Miss, Bama, and Vandy) right now. They got beatdown tonight. SEC is getting 5 tops. Math isnt on their side for sure..

Eye test, they arent a playoff team

😂 Why don’t you tell me how you really feel. Just kidding, everyone hates a winner. Same reason I hated TN as a kid, you guys always kicked our butts.
Savannah is about the only redeeming thing about your penal colony.
I grew up during those days and to me Georgia should always be a clown program with clown fans that bark at you and then waste the rest of their lives in a soulless metro city like Atlanta.

The fact they've done so well and have some weird pixie dust luck over us genuinely pisses me off. It won't last forever though so that's the good news.

Talented, but dysfunctional is how I see it.
Talented is right. Simmons at DE is like 3 players in one. He’ll be a fixture on Sundays soon enough. But their secondary is missing some pieces and the OL isn’t very good—they’re bad enough to let UGA get pressure, which seldom happens. Lots of drops and missed blocks on offense.

I wonder about the locker room. The rumor is that Texas pays big money and that can make challenges for managing a team. There are some dudes on that roster—Simmons, Wingo, Hill, Manning—but you may be right about dysfunction.

Yeah I had the same thoughts. They’re are gelling at the right time. Hats off to them for improving. No idea why we can’t do the same. I’m sick of the sloppy play and mindless turnovers.

He's 113-20 coming into tonight, his decisions tend to work out alot. All of that which you call dumb is actually a killer instinct.
I believe Kirby Smart is the best coach in college football. Having said that, his comment isn't really inaccurate. If those plays don't work, the conversation definitely changes. See the end of the Bama game for reference.
I do agree with your point about Kirby having a killer instinct, though. He will absolutely put his foot on your throat when he is in position to win a game. He will also do things like throw for the endzone down by 8 on fourth down from the 28 yard line rather than trying to pick up the first down, like he did in our game. If Stockton doesn't make a perfect throw in that situation, there would have been plenty of criticism for that decision. He is absolutely not afraid to take those chances, though.

All fair points. But a counter to your counter on 4th downs: I was watching and told my buddy “Kirby never goes for these. It’s just motion and hard count and then a time out.” And then they motioned and ran a play. Then a few plays later on the next fourth down, it was motion, hard count, and the Texas defender jumped for a free first down. He has a season’s worth of tendencies that makes the defense’s job harder.

If it doesn’t work, he looks dumb. But I like the aggressive mindset. UGA was all the way back on its heels and Texas was within 4, and then UGA converts two fourth downs and recover a surprise onside kick and it’s a blowout.

And it’s complimentary football: UGA lost its best defender and was down a safety and a couple DL. Texas was figuring it out on offense and it felt like they had another TD in them. Instead of dying a slow death playing defense, Kirby decides to win or lose by trying to keep the ball.

There really wasn't a way for them to beat us without going for it on that 4th down though. If he kicks the FG he never gets the ball back. There is an episode of the old show "24" with Kiefer Sutherland where he's following a terrorist and they lose satellite coverage and so Sutherland has to figure out some way to stay on the guy without him knowing he's being followed, so to hold him in place he takes the extreme step of sticking up the convenience store the guy walked into and acting like a common armed robber to hold him in place until the satellite situation is resolved. Truly great coaches have the same mentality of tactically always doing what is required to win or finish an opponent off. Sure, sometimes it backfires (watch the whole last 5 minutes or so of the Kick 6 Iron Bowl sometime) but on average that killer instinct serves them better than not.

I just think we need to move on from Banks, he's alot of our issue. Even last year when we had really good talent on defense, he got badly outclassed when we faced teams we couldn't simply out-talent.

It’s the preparation that makes his gambles smart while others shoot themselves in the foot with similar decisions.
