10 Questions for 2018: Tyson Helton’s Offense

Who really cares if Brohm was in control. Wouldn't Helton have learned from him just like his experience at USC? It seems people are quick to dismiss apprenticeship.

Brohm may have been in control, but Helton was the OC. Meaning he called the plays and likely designed some of them as well. Those who claim that coordinators are not really in control are being a little disingenuous. Even guys like Saban and Meyer hire coordinators. Now its their system, but coordinators do their jobs.

And yes, Helton would have learned from him just like he learned from his brother at USC.

Its very similar to petrino's system his first stint at uofL when he had brohm and leflors. zone scheme with play action off it. look at trinity high school in louisville, ky and you'll see some of it there. now, they may not go with the 4 and 5 wr sets the shamrocks use, but you'll see a lot of ace, ace slot.....motions, etc..

...Our QBs are fine.

I don’t see it. I haven’t seen really any of Shrout. Chryst should be fine indeed. JG is erratic and unrefined, although he has some serious grit. McBride is an FBS or D2 QB at best. If he will transfer down a level, he’d be very successful IMO. God help us if he has to actually step on the field for us again.

At this point, Chryst is the only one with actual results to show that he should be fine. I feel like our offense this year will go as far as he can take us.
