Shon Coleman - Football Recruiting

Scout.com: Shun Coleman Profile

“Tennessee is really coming on strong,” Coleman explained. “Coach Frank Wilson is a great coach and very easy to talk to. He seems to really care about me as a person, not just a football player.”

“I would feel great to get an offer from them,” Coleman said. “They are telling me that they want to see me in one of their camps and an offer could be coming shortly afterwards. Tennessee is a great school.”

Per Scout... he says he is a soft-verbal commit to Auburn, but is very interested in the Vols. This is a guy to keep a watch on...

Looks like AU has Trooper on him! It will be difficult to pull him away. Maybe troop want bad mouth UT to this kid.

What do they put in the water in Olive Branch? It seems like they have some huge dudes that come from that area.

Memphis had the title as being America's fattest city. Wasn't it Aubrey Phillips from Olive Branch that was all Vol, then Auburn and finally FSU?

Still an Auburn commit, but says he will visit every school that has offered.

On Tennessee..

"I know they have a pretty big stadium. I hear it is a good place to play football."

Who is recruiting him the hardest...

"I would say Tennessee, Miami, Ole Miss, MSU, and Auburn. I forgot about Arkansas. Them too. They have been recruiting me real good too. Illinois also gave me a verbal offer recently."

“Yes I have interest in Tennessee,” Coleman said. “I grew up cheering for the Vols. I have always been a fan. They have a new coaching staff and I have been getting to know Coach Frank Wilson a lot, he is really cool. We are talking about setting up an official visit to Knoxville.”

Coleman was also impressed that Coach Wilson made a stop by yesterday to evaluate the talented offensive lineman. "They must have a lot of interest in me," Coleman said. "UT stopped by the school yesterday, that says a lot."

Per Scout...

Before it is all said and done, this thread will gain a lot of attention. I don't know for sure but I suspect our staff will refocus efforts from Damien Robinson to Shun Coleman. I believe the recruiting sites (both rivals & scout) are picking up something obvious in their dropping Robinson significantly and raising Coleman dramatically in the rankings. I bet our staff picked up on that too (prob earlier). If Trooper is the guy recruiting Coleman, though, it's gonna be hard. Come through for us Frank Wilson!

At 6'7'' and 275 he seems like the type of tackle that Kiffin likes. With a 6'7'' frame, he could really turn into a monster once he gets some college strength and conditioning.

Would you take Ed Christen or Shon Coleman?

I am a little nervous when I hear Olive Branch. We have seen all the drama with Walls getting to school and then the Phillips kid that dropped us for FSU and later went to Auburn....

I don't know alot about Coleman. He could be a great kid and someone who turns into an All American. I don't know. But when I hear Olive Branch I just kind of cringe a little....

Robinson is a lot more like Phillips than Coleman IMO.

Also, I'll be surprised if Walls doesn't become a player in a few years.

That Victor Thomas has sure been a beast, too.

Honestly, I have more faith in this staff to evaluate OL than I did the last staff at evaluating DL, and it's not even close.

Dude must be tearing it up to jump that high. #76 player overall is big, hope we can make a push!

He visted Bama for their game with us and I believe he will be at Ol Miss for their game vs. Tennessee. This is from today....

Coleman, a 6-foot-7, 285 pound prospect, made the jump about two weeks ago from a three-star on the cusp of four-star status to one of the most highly rated offensive tackles in the country and the No. 76 player overall. He also is now rated the top prospect in Mississippi.

"I'm being recruited really hard," Coleman said on Monday evening after returning to his home from watching a junior varsity game. "I now have up offers from LSU, Tennessee, Miami and Arkansas."

Will be named to the Army All American roster along with Robinson on Monday at school according to the Commercial Appeal.

This guy and Chaz Green are 2 lineman that I want bad. Stealin one from AU would be nice too.

I would not be surprised if we take Coleman despite the possibility of getting our top 3 OL prospects (Cullen, Chaz, JJames). I've even read a few speculate that we are gaining interest in Coleman at the expense of Cullen--an opinion I do not subscribe to. Cullen, being a JUCO, more than likely could really fill a position of need much better than a true freshmen from high school. Nevertheless, I hope we try to take Coleman.

It'll be interesting to see how Coleman does against Jackson Jeffcoat and Ronald Powell in the Army AA game. Perhaps our staff uses this game to decide if he's a "must take" even w/ the likelihood of signing our current top 3 OL recruits...

I think we may be looking more at a James, Green, Coleman and Cullen instead of Stone factoring into the equation.
