Scout.com: Oak Grove (MS) standout offered by Tennessee

Scout.com: Vince Taylor Profile

"Vince had a state high 151 tackles for all defensive linemen. "

A little under-sized but that many takles as a D-linemen is impressive.

Coach O is hitting Mississippi alot harder than I am used to. Seems like we are trying to stick our nose into Ole Miss's back yard and steal some from them MSU, and Southern Miss.
I think this is smart, if those teams don't get any better, I don't see how we can't hand pick some out of a fairly talented state.

I wonder how much of a difference it makes by offering a prospect earlier in the recruiting process. I would think that it would make a difference.

article from 1/7/09---

"Actually I am really open to any college," he said. "I am just looking for a good coaching staff, a team that already has a good history of being a good football team, a school with good academics and good fans."

it makes a difference and Orgeron's philosophy (along with others) is that you have to get on an out-of-state prospect early to get leverage.

New article up. He names us as his leader.

"I'm going to give it a little more time before I make my decision, but most likely I am going to make my decision before the first game," he explained. "I just want a good coaching staff and nice facilities. That's about it. And I don't want nothing too far away from home either."

It seems like we may be his leader by default having been his first SEC offer. I wonder how long ago Orgeron heard of this kid with his time spent in Mississippi.

We NEED big talented DTs like him. Especially with the new D-line configuration. He could be a good DT to play along side the noseguard. Get a commit, O!

NYC calls him Baby Melancon and O was completely in love with Rolando coming out of HS. He'd be the prototypical O DT.

does he have a visit set up? if he has us as leader with a visit from MSU already under his belt we are in good shape.

Especially with how the 2010 recruits are liking their visits so far.... i expect him to be a Vol soon after he visits
