i heard that Matt Simms, son of Phil, has withdrawn his commitment to Louisville..Seeing as (if what i hear is reliable) he says his recruitment "open"

1) would we want him? and
2) if we did, how good a chance would we have of landing him

note: this information is from a reliable source on another board that i have found to be verifiable 100% of the time...however, i do not guarantee the accuracy of the statement

just an off the cuff brain fart, for the sake of discussion...If he has the big-game prowess of brother Chris, i want nothing to do with him....but damn, he is a good looking QB...how has Nick Stephens looked, btw

I'm looking forward to Cromp getting the job, after Erik closes out his career with (hopefully) a very very good year...but is Nick the guy to take the reins far down the road?

Nick is looking solid.. Crompton is gonna have some major competition with Coleman and Stephens next year ('08-'09)

BJ Coleman is just as good as Simms, Stephens and the rest

Simms still >>> Crompton probably... never seen him play.. but I'd say its safe to assume any D1 QB >>>> Crompton.

I would welcome a long line of people wanting to "try out" for the QB position to line up just outside the athletic complex and prepare to be evaluated. If Simms wants to join that long line of walk-ons, juco transfers and otherwise student QBs staying in Clement Hall -- then I am all for it.

I personally know Matt and he's a real good guy and despite his unusual motion, puts the ball where it needs to be with some zip. He got stuck behind Hunter Cantwell, a 5th year senior and never got any PT. Matt should have been starting. He's transferring because Kragthorpe is ruining this program and fired Jeff Brohm, the QB coach, who recruited matt. Yall need to remember that we are just kids and yea we screw up but thats part of growing up and college. i'm just really disappointed in what you have to say....nothing intelligent

He's not anywhere close to an SEC QB.

Plus if you have read Meat Market you will remember that Orgeron didn't like him when he had the chance to offer him at Ole Miss.

Not dissing Simms here, but we don't need a transfer that will sit out a year.. Develop what we have, save the schollies for skill positions and get a couple of studs next year to build with...
