Jazz went 1-3 vs the Spurs, but I don't actually hate their chances. They've been playing well lately. If Big Al is hot, they can do it.

Certainly hope the Spurs can avoid wasting the #1 seed like they did last year.

Hopefully the Jazz can win a few. If the Grizz can advance, a tired Spurs team would be good. So far, Spurs have looked in control.

In the middle of moving and didn't get to see the game. Hope for more of the same from this series though. I would expect Utah to be pretty tough later on when they get home though.

The sweep will be finalized tonight.

Looking that way.

I said before that the Jazz need to trade Jefferson, Milsap and Harris for picks and young players to build around Hayward, Favors and Kanter. Or they need to trade the young guys to build around the vets. Their team has an odd combination of quality vets and quality rookies. I'd aim to compete now or compete later because I don't see them winning with their current roster as is. By the time the young guys are really ready to play, the other guys will be kind of old and might not even be with the team any longer.

Why in God's name would you trade Jefferson or Milsap? Those two plus Favors could be one of the beter froncourts in the NBA.

Devin Harris really has no value and Hayward is a nice role player at best. The Jazz need better PG play, a guy who can get those bigs easy baskets. they also need a Kyle Korver type, someone who can hit the open three when teams double the post.

Because their current roster is an 8th seed team that;s on the verge of being swept. You aim to win now or aim to win later imo. I wouldn't wait for the young players to get better as your best players decline. Plus, Jefferson, Milsap and Harris all expire after next season. If you re-sign Jefferson and Milsap, you probably won't be able to re-sign Favors, Hayward, Kanter and Burks.

I feel like they're going to be middle of the pack and by the time the young guys evolve, they won't be able to keep the team in tact anyways. So win now or stack the deck for later. Again, that's just what I would do in their position.

Also, I think you might be writing off Hayward too soon. He finished strong at the end of last season and finished strong at the end of this season.

Not going to include the final game of the season where he played 7 minutes and shot 1/3 for 3 points. But the last 20 games he averaged 47.1% 16.4pts 4.9rebs 3.5asts.

He just turned 22 on March 23rd.

He'll be more than a role player imo.

Jefferson and Milsap are both 27, it's not like their 33.

Maybe you trade one of them for a guard but I think it would insane to trade them both.

You don't have to trade both but they need more vets with the vets or more young guys with the young guys.

Kanter 19
Favors 20
Burks 20
Hayward 22(just turned)

Milsap and Jefferson will be 32 when they're 25. How much will those guys really contribute prior to their prime? And again, they have to be able to re-sign these guys. Kanter and Favors were both taken 3rd, if they live up to the hype, they need to work on building around them for the future.

Right now I see a team that's 8th and got swept. I also see...

C Kanter
PF Favors
SF Hayward
SG Burks
PG ???

That's their future imo. Imagine the draft picks and young guys they could get if they traded Jefferson or Milsap. Right now their team is just an odd combination.

I would trade Jefferson in a heartbeat. Even if we didn't have a young star budding behind him.

You trade Jefferson because some people think he's good and you can get some value, but you don't need a guy in the middle to inefficiently take 17 FGA/game. He's called "the black hole" around here because he doesn't pass out of double teams. I don't think anybody that watches the Jazz thinks he's much better than average.

With Favors, Kanter, and Millsap, you don't need Jefferson. He's the oldest and least promising of the bunch.

I haven't been a big fan of Hayward, but he really turned it on the second half of the season. excited to see how he progresses. If we can land a good PG in the draft we'll have a very good, young starting 5.

I don't see any good PG's in the draft this year, though. 2012 will be a very PF-heavy draft.

I think they will try to trade Jefferson, Utah does have a glut of players at that spot.
