1/5 of Gen Z (1997-2004) identify as LGBT.

Yep they claim it’s because of “greater acceptance”.

The also claim trans suicide rates are high “because they’re not accepted”.

If these two things were true, suicide rates would drop. Obviously they’re lying to us

This is interesting for any number of reasons. Most interesting would be if there are biological changes that are a cause.

Even if I were to entertain that being gay is genetic.
Even if I were to entertain that there’s always been this many, just closeted..

A 1 in 5 genetic defect that negates the primary purpose of our existence, reproduction, is astronomical and could never be explained off as natural occurrence.

That’s exactly what it is. You immediately gain unearned social capital
I have a funny story.. last year our neighbor’s kid decided they wanted to be called ‘Gray’ as their new name (in my daughter’s class).. and announced it to everyone on the first day of class.. my daughter said one of the kids mumbled ‘this is gonna be good’ under their breath.. my daughter said she was embarrassed for everyone involved lol

You believe these are fake numbers?

Even if the #s aren't accurate the trend is pretty apparent - so the measure could be reliable even if not valid.

if it's social acceptance alone (eg. it's okay to be...) then you'd expect to see the change happening in the older generations but it is pretty stable. there must be some other explanation (biological or sociological).

would make for interesting studies but academic freedom only goes so far these days

I believe the number of people who are authentically confused as to their gender is a fraction of those that report so for many reasons: attention seeking or to f with the survey, to name two.

We actually agreed on something. Many of the “trans kids” are kids seeking unearned praised and attention

Bi and trans still allow for reproduction. Gay couples could also reproduce using a donor

That’s also a problem even if that’s the cause. Shouldn’t we be concerned, or disturbed, that kids think faking a mental illness that leads to medical mutilation and sterilization is worth it for the attention?

Did you ever do a survey when you were younger? I remember a drug one while in HS and I'm sure those results showed everyone was on every drug available
I hate this take. Then why even bother with statistics and polling? If any data point you don’t like can be explained away with “they’re lying for a goof,” there’s literally no point in polling at all.

A friend of mine has a son in high school. I think he got in trouble a few times for wearing a hat inside the school and they say it’s not allowed because it causes “distractions”. On the flip side it’s ok for kids to wear a tail or a bird beak. We live in a bazaaro world.

I'd think part of the increase seen with Millennials and Gen Z has to do with the time it takes for some to understand/accept their sexuality. Explains why older generations have remained generally static.

It seems undeniable that the number of trans kids specifically has blown through the roof relative to previous generations

My brother is a HS history teacher. Told me there’s a femboy who dresses like a cat every day in one of his classes. He’s forced by admin to address him as a she.

I’m glad I never went through with teaching after I got my history degree. I couldn’t do it.

You may hate the take but pretty much nailed it. Polls can absolutely be very unreliable. It's not data
