Is it just me or do we seem to be getting an unusual number of walk-ons? Robert Marve has a full ride waiting on him at a few different schools and he is considering walking on. I believe this says something about this coaching staff. Who knows, we might find another Montori Hughes out of these guys. He almost went unnoticed until UT offered him. We have nothing to lose with these walk-ons.

Robert Marve would only walk-on because he has to and with the intention of being placed on scholarship after this season.

Then he's looking at the wrong school. He can't receive a scholarship from UT per the conditions of his transfer from UM. If he goes to any of the school Shannon prohibited (Tennessee is one), he must pay his own way the whole time.

He would have to walk-on and pay his own way for a year at UT, UF or LSU. Purdue is offering him a full ride right now. He will have to sit out a year, but he would not have to pay his on way for a year. He would be on scholarship from the start.

Also, congrats to Phillips...

You never really know what you are getting with OL, from the 5*s to the walk-ons, until they get on the field. This guy could come in, get to work, and end up being a major contributor down the road.

lol... Yeah, that must be what he is thinking too, or he wouldn't considering walking on at UT versus a scholly at Purdue. That would definitely be a sweet deal for us.

Agreed. That is why I made the reference to Montori Hughes. Yeah, he is on scholarship, but he wasn't even listed on rivals until UT found him and offered him. He was almost missed altogether, and he is going to be a beast, and will a contributor this year. Phillips could be one that was maybe overlooked as well and could be a contributor eventually.
