Everybody is anxiously ready for bball season. I know it has not come out yet, but anybody know some non-conf games other than OSU and Memphis. I saw where we might have picked USC.

I think we're going to play a home-and-home with Xavier, and they were trying to get a home-and-home with Wake Forest.

Is that starting this year. I heard about it awhile back, but wasn't sure if it started this year or next.

So if we play OSU, Xavier, Memphis, UTC, WKU, and Wake, surely Bruce will leave the other 4 or 5 nonconference games for patsies like Wofford & Elon. Not that UTC and WKU are great teams, those are just teams that we're definitely playing.

Didn't we play La. Lafayette last season? I'm positive we did, was that a home-and-home or just a road game?

The other games will be against teams like East Tenn. St, Eastern KY, teams like that.

I know we played ULL at home the previous year. I'm not sure if they come here again.

I heard Pearl on the radio here in Knoxville a couple weeks ago and when he was asked about the schedule he mentioned playing Texas, West Virginia, Memphis, Xavier, and Ohio State.

I think Texas and West Va are in the preseason tournament that we are playing in this year.

I think I heard somewhere that Pearl wanted to play Duke, but they turned it down.
Pretty sad, when youre an all-time great program and you wont play a new rising program. Its sad that they have the longest active non-conf home game win streak. And they play the sorriest teams. No disrespect to them, theyre not sorry, but they have no business bein in Cameron. Bucknell, Oral Roberts, GA Southern, Radford, Charlotte, etc. I could go on forever. Seriously, when was the last time Duke played a tough non-conf game @ home?

Duke has not been an all-time great program at all. They weren't good until the end of the century, and they were just like Tennessee, an up and coming underdog who everyone jumped on the bandwagon of. Then they won all those championships and people jumped off and started hating them.

Isn't Duke like #4 all-time in wins? They didn't win all of those games just in the last 15-20 years.

Sorry dude, your assertion that Duke isn't an all-time great needs to be backed up with some facts.

Im not a Duke fan by no means. Theyre the last team I would pull for. But admit it, theyre an all-time great. Theyre just behind KY, UNC, UCLA, and Indiana.

All-time, small time, it doesnt matter, all that really matters is this time, and this time it is time for UT to establish a spot on that list of all time greats

As much as I hate them I think it's safe to say Duke is one of the all-time elite programs along with UNC,Kentucky,Indiana,UCLA.

every year they play in the acc/big ten tourney...they have played indiana the past couple years, georgetown, george washington, gonzaga...thats just last year. Not to mention in 2005 they played texas among those others. On top of that, when it comes to basketball you cant really get rougher than the ACC teams. They are consistantly good most every single year...I love TN but they play their dud teams as well. They play UTC this year...Me and my buds could beat UTC and they play other SOCON teams. The point is, every D-1 school plays stat-boosting games.

I would like to see Tennessee vs. UConn on the men's side. I'm sure the UConn fans would love to see Pat Summitt do her cheerleading routine for that game.

Everybody plays the mid-majors. But seriously, does Duke ever play a Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee, UCLA, or just some big D-1 program @ home, other than conf opponents. I dont think they go on the road. I know theyve played Georgetown recently and they played TX in NY. But Duke will not play a home-home series against another quality D-1 opponent.

As far as the schedule, since Pearl wants to play all over the state of TN. I think them and VA Tech should play @ Viking Hall in Bristol every year. It's a great setting and will have a beautiful atmosphere.
