0-8 all time vs Number 1 seeds

Didn’t we also beat Ohio State when they were a 2 seed? Wayne Chism and company
Yep.

Our likelihood of beating 1 seeds will be extremely low until we ourselves have 1 seed type of talent. If Tennessee wants a final 4/national championship they're going to need to splurge to do it. Even then not a guarantee, but can't keep going in to March relying on 1 or 2 guys to do almost everything. The fact that we've made 3 straight elite 8s doing that is a testament to the coaching and effort of the teams. Just gotta have more reliable options on the roster going forward, so we're not feeling like we've lost all hope when Kobi/Ament or ZZ/Lanier or ZZ/Knecht aren't lighting the world on fire.

Spot on. If you want a FF in today's game you're going to have to buy a whole team. Not one, two guys.

But to do that here you will have to take money from football, which this fanbase will never accept. We don’t have enough to be top tier spenders in both.

The difference between being a 1 or a 2 on your Elite Eight chances is more dramatic than what I would have thought. #1s make the EE two-thirds of the time. #2s make it slightly less than 50% of the time.
The one that got me was a 6 seed being 30-40% more likely than a 5 to make the Elite 8. That’s a significant deviation.
