Solid data, Mudcat. It puts things in perspective regarding how athletic departments prioritize spending across sports.
Absolutely agree on the attack, we have plenty of talented forwards who can produce even when Shae isn't out there. It comes down to tactical delivery and giving those players better angles against packed SEC lines. Hope the staff uses this break to get that front group clicking again.

Obviously we are a very poor passing team. The more I watch though we have limited team speed which makes attacking even harder.

Unfortunately great players can't overcome bad coaching systems/culture. Outcomes aren't final yet, but at this trajectory, the team will be a low tier entry into the SEC tourney and won't make the NCAA tourney (the remaining schedule is rough and the teams they are playing are far better organized). Notice, Joe started changing the line up (like last year) and the success rate dropped dramatically. He is worried that if he doesn't play certain player from certain clubs, that he won't be able to recruit. Doesnt matter - transfer recruiting is the new norm anyway. Winning always solves recruiting challenges.

Good luck for the remainder of the year! Hate to see hardworking players having to struggle with bad coaching and culture issues.

PS

Plus the assistant coach is a putz.

Solved that problem give the club players
Bench minutes substitution minutes for the starters.
Give club players more or less minutes by play on the feild.
If there was a better bench player - non club players
Would give bench player the minutes while the starters need a rest before going back in.

Tough game to watch. South Carolina just packed it in the whole game. But they were efficient on the few times they needed to be. We passed it to death. Kept trying to pass the ball or dribble through the middle of the pitch where South Carolina had 11 behind the ball. Wish we would start crossing the ball into the middle from the wing more. Got to create more scoring opportunities.

You would think that after all these years, Tennessee’s coaching staff would know what to expect from South Carolina. Shelley and Jamie Smith consistently put out a team that is compact defensively and organized in attack. They’ve been doing it for years. You have to stretch that defense, change the point of attack, and be willing to play over it when the opportunity is there. Trying to force the same approach through a crowded midfield shouldn’t come as a surprise when it doesn’t work.
What frustrates me most is that I believe Tennessee has talented athletes who want to compete and win. My concern is the leadership they’re getting. There seems to be a pattern: the team builds momentum, players gain confidence, something starts working—and then the coaches change the rotation or disrupt the system without a clear explanation. I’ve become especially concerned about that with the new assistant coach - actually, he is a low level club coach at best. Adjustments are part of coaching, but players need to understand the expectations and the reasons behind decisions. When players are left guessing about their roles, trust starts to erode. Frustration follows, and eventually it shows up on the field. You can’t keep creating uncertainty within your own team and then act surprised when the performance becomes inconsistent.

In short, fire the coaching staff and get some real leaders in there.

PS

Looking at the remaining schedule, and the performance of the other teams, Tennessee now has about a 50% likelihood of not making the SEC tournament.
