That’s a great point. We have come a long way since the 99ers. Had such high hopes with that win at the Rose Bowl. But it all came crashing down shortly afterwards. Seemed like that was always gonna be the fate of soccer in the United States, men’s and women’s.I was in Denver for work in Feb, and I was so pleased to see advertising for the Summit and their players literally everywhere. I remember when the WUSA folded after the 99 Women's World Cup. What tremendous growth.
your love for them is evident! I think we all appreciate the work you do following recruits, transfers, current players, and those in the pros. Having a mens team would be great, but we are so lucky with our Lady Vols. And I do think they get better every year! That’s a great point. We have come a long way since the 99ers. Being a first generation and also living overseas exposed me to the love of fútbol.
Looking back, growing up in the Knoxville in the 70’s, soccer was such a foreign concept. None of my friends at school or in the neighborhood had any interest, even in a pickup game. Don’t remember any opportunities to play organized soccer. But when I was in Europe and other countries, it was like eating and sleeping.
My dad was a professor at UTK, we had season tickets to football, loved all the sports. Grew up swimming for the UTK Faculty Club Swim Team, I went to the University of Tennessee Sports Camps in the summer, played all the sports, but no soccer.
I’m jealous you played and I’m glad to see the enthusiasm growing for the sport.
For the longest time I was disappointed that the University didn’t have a men’s soccer team. But not anymore. I love this Lady Vols program, probably one of my favorite teams I follow in any sport. Also love that the players have opportunities to play professional at a high level now.

That is fantastic news, she was one of the players I was hoping you’d have on your show, can’t wait for the episode to come out. Bet it was a fun interview, from what I’ve seen she is hilarious.Just interviewed Kai Tsakiris. Should be posted in the next couple of weeks.
