“But I got to stop wishin', got to go fishin' Down to rock bottom again Just a few friends, just a few friends” (pictures)

Will do. With the heat, I’ve been mostly fly fishing and/or spin fishing in the Smokies, Tellico River, Chattahoochee, and even did the West Prong of Little Pigeon River in G’burg.
Where abouts on the Chattahoochee do you fish? I live close to one part, but wanna try trout fishing below buford dam one day.

One of my absolute favorite things to do is fly fish up the thunderhead branch at ElkMont. Climb the falls and fish the troughs. Sit on the falls and eat lunch. Then fish my way back down.
If I knew I had one day left, that’s what I’d do.

They still stock rainbows and browns below Buford dam, but, with waters warming, they switched to stocking shoal bass below Morgan Falls Dam.

Given the tree canopy and low branches along the banks of the ’Hooch, I use relatively short light action spinning rigs when fishing for trout. That’s just me, though.

Never fished the dam, but want to

Tailwater below Buford Dam, and McGinness Ferry area, Settles Bridge, and Abbotts. If you go down to Roswell or South, it’s a great Shoal Bass and even Smallmouth fishery.

That‘s on my list. My daughter has been raving about Thunderhead. Think it holds some Brookies.

Is this the unofficial fishing forum of Volnation? I was surprised there wasn’t a prominent fishing thread as I just stumbled upon this a couple of days ago…. Glad I found it.

A few tips:
1) Check the generation schedule
2) Def wear waders (temp is mid 50s in Aug since it’s bottom layer of Lanier)
3) Highly recommend a staff. Rocks are super slippery and there are some deep holes
4) I can recommend an incredible guide who fishes the Hooch in a drift boat if you’re interested.
5) Hooch is an incredible fishery. The Browns reproduce and there are some big fish in the Hooch

There’s another fishing thread in the Pub. This one seems more active.
