I am just finish reading this book. A great read for the football fanatic even if you are not into recruiting.

It is set at Ole Miss in 2005 so there is a lot about next years seniors. Ole Miss want Garcia for QB and will do anything, Florida locking up Timmy, etc.

I enjoyed reading all the talk of who was 5* and who was 3* knowing how they are as college juniors. A lot of recruiting hype will go away after you read this.

The Orgeron quotes make you want to go out in the yard and try to knock down a tree.

The book is by ESPN's Bruce Feldman "Meat Market: Inside the Smash-Mouth World of College Football Recruiting"

The ecomony isn't great right now -- so check your local library.

This fall there will be NO CLAPPING by the coaches when you blow a play. Miss a tackle -- talk to this man!

I have about 20 pages left. Agreed, I've wanted to hit things countless times reading this book. This gives great insight into what has gone on on the Hill the last 2 months and a peek at the type of coaching our current guys are receiving. Great read for the football fan.

Definitely a great book, I still laugh when I think of that running back that went to Mississippi State because they would let him wear the 2. Time to drink another 48 oz cup full of coffee and a few red bulls.

I'm about halfway through. Gets me excited we have Orgeron AND Wilson.

Great point. It seems Wilson is getting overshadowed by the rest of the Vols staff.

The book has a lot of good things to say about Wilson. One hell of a recruiter.

I got it off Amazon. Shipping and everything was just $13. I agree, it is a good reminder that the stars don't really mean alot in the recruiting world. CFW is a "BEAST" recruiter. There is zero doubt in my mind that this coaching staff in place at Tennessee will have the "very best" talent in the country in four years. Two thumbs up on the book.

Sounds interesting ... Can any of you guys with the book provide a couple Coach O quotes for us?

Coach O: best recruiter in the SEC--no one comes close. He'll build UT's talent base way up quick.

I read it a couple weeks ago.. a fantastic book. I also read Dixieland Delight, and I'm starting on Bowls, Polls, and Tattered Souls this week.

We must have the same readiing list. I read "Bowls, Polls.." and have "Dixieland Delight" on the shelf to read in August to get me ready for the season.

I'll just fill then time inbetween with non-football books.

it is a good reminder that the stars don't really mean alot in the recruiting world.

for vol fans, one of the two key points in the book, imo.

the other key point being that coach yaw-yaw has a real gift for finding the "diamonds in the rough," players that have been missed by the star radar and/or are the exact fit for the current needs of the program.

if everyone here at VN had a therapeutic dose of the above there would be a lot less hand wringing over how our recruiting class measures up.

I wish they would re-rank the classes after all the players that don't make grades and have to take a JC route are removed. I think Bama had 5 last year.

Okay, you guys convinced me and went out and bought this book. Not finished with it yet but laughed my @ss off when I learned Dewayne "The Rock" Johnson's wrestling persona is based off of CEO.

Great book for the college football enthusiast - makes quite a few references to UT in the book.

I picked it up last Monday and couldn't put it down. Finished it last Friday. Really good/interesting if you only casually follow recruiting.

I am currently reading this myself. I am about 7 chapters in. It is an entertaining book.

It makes me even more excited to have coach O on our staff.
