From an old guy.....JMO.....changing the rules to allow offensive linemen to extend their arms (what amounts to legal holding) changed the game for the worse in my opinion. And the newer rules about QB protection etc. have tilted the game even more in favor of the offense.

To me the true measure of a good coach is getting the most from the player talent with which he/she has to work.

Don't know one but there are some that produced good teams with average to below average player talent. And that's what I consider good coaching. Examples: Bill Snyder at KSU, Patterson at TCU, Petersen at Boise State.

Everything he/she said may be coaching but Saban's record at LSU and Bama is every bit as much related to a roster of 5 star players as it is coaching. Ever check his record when he was coaching a team without a player talent advantage? And for that matter Fulmer's record was also.

Disagree with the opening statement. Fulmer was a good recruiter.

A bigger question, tangentially related..... Will colleges and universities continue as we've known them? The writer of a recent Wall Street Journal article thinks not. Is This the End of College as We Know It?

Spot on. Our great record late last century was because many other regional programs (both SEC and otherwise) were in the doldrums relative to where they are now. It was much easier to recruit.
