    Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

I’m not advocating for him because he needs more experience, and I think there might have been some red flags this year. But his best offensive playmakers opted out this year, so there is some context.

Not quite as easy doing that to Pruitt. It appears we have much more leverage in Pruitt right now than if we would have done something in December. We will see, but I actually think Plowman knows what she’s doing.

I could see Stoops before someone like Campbell or Fickell. He’s been out long enough to get the itch, and if we offer $8 million per year...although he would have to coach against his brother.

    They suck.

If we have AD by Friday, then we should have coach by end of January. Tell AD that his first week will be his most important.

Actually, it was a great idea. You think Chaney or Ansley could hold this together while they look for their next job? No. We just saved money firing a coach, so paying Steele 450k is nothing. It’s fine. They just need to get an AD and HC in place within a week or so.

I hate to say this, but you have to reach rock bottom to build back up. Most don’t have patience, but they can make a good hire and pay money to get this thing going eventually. It just takes good decisions.

I rather give it to Fulmer than the total buyouts to Dooley and Butch. Part of the deal.

He’s not helped, but we wouldn’t have our expectations if Fulmer never wins a title. I know people want to pick a side with him and Majors, but the success after becoming coach shows he was most likely the correct choice. Let him ride into the sunset, shut the door, and move on.

I didn't say that I liked it. Just providing context.

He didn't retire, but that happens all of the time. At universities...at Fortune 500 companies.

Lol. You just can't be patient. The sign of a good coaching search is that you don't hear much at all.

It would take a number like that to get Matt Campbell. Maybe 7. But he isn't leaving Iowa State for just another $2 million to coach us. Fleck makes almost 5 million, which is more than Pruitt. Just like with Barnes, we will have to pay a premium to get a good football coach.

    Florida Postgame Report

I agree with most. Fulkerson and Pons do need to step up as leaders but also be more aggressive on offense. Fulkerson needs 12+ points per night but also touches inside to be effective. When he touches it, the defense will usually double or at least shade, which would open up the outside...

I quit dogging him about that a while back. Kind of ironic since Plowman apparently is the daughter of a Methodist minister.

Yep, but she specifically referenced that in the PC. She said, "I know most of you want the coach to be hired first, but..." To me, the reference was clear that she understood timing.

Plowman is doing this correctly. While many of us would be happy with Ingram, you can't limit your hiring pool. Think about it: Alabama's AD is Greg Byrne, and he has no affiliation with the school. He actually grew up out west. Florida's AD is Scott Stricklin, and he had no prior...
