An elite college QB and a potential elite NFL QB are also 2 very different skill sets (depending on the system). I think Howard was absolutely an elite college QB, though the talent around him was also really really good.

'26 NC QB Faizon Brandon (Tennessee commit)

The worst thing on volnation is when some silly rumor from a know-nothing pot-stirrer (Basilio) gets shared and the next thing you know people are trying to throw out peoples “a$$es” despite having done nothing worthy of having their name dragged through the mud. Maybe let’s not jump to...

BartTorvik and Ken Pomeroy are constantly more accurate with pre-season Barnes rankings than the media publications. Y’all are sleeping way too much on Gillespie.

This doesn’t account for Ament. If I remember correctly we’re #11 with him.

BartTorvik's roster forecaster has us at 12-13 right now. Add Gainey and Chaikin and we're up to #10.

I can't stop looking at numbers today. Wanted to get some work done but oh well... I feel like the most frustrating part of our offense last year was how often we just got nothing (or worse) plays. Nico seemed to get sacked a ton relative to his pressure rates, and despite being 6'6", I've...

Imo, the system works so well at the college level that it often makes the players look better than they actually are and NFL teams draft them higher than they should go. There's this perception that players that come out of the system aren't any good in the NFL but it might just be that the...

'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Rourke, Pavia, and Aguilar are all very different players, but I think it's very likely that Aguilar's game translates to the SEC as well as the other two did to Indiana / Vanderbilt. The three of them have been bunched together near the top of my G5 QB lists for a while now.

A breakdown of starting QBs at Tennessee in my database. Aguilar in the Milton / Nico tier makes sense to me, but he hasn't gotten the Heupel bump yet (though who knows how much of that is offset by only having a few months to learn the system).

Goes both ways. He absolutely did not have the talent or coaching around him to put him in a remotely decent position to succeed against that Clemson defense. Kurtis Rourke went 14/30 for 119 yards against Penn State and 5.9 YPA (with 2 picks) against Iowa St. when he played for Ohio, then put...

'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Great question. I’ve actually built hundreds of small models that evaluate context for each QB metric. For every quarterback in the database, I measure how their performance changes based on fluctuations in the environment around them. For example, if a QB’s left tackle typically has a...

Whoops, edited! Skipped over the name. He's in that second tier.

App State's entire season was a dumpster fire. Staff that was clearly getting canned. QBR often says as much about the team as it does the QB. Aguilar was the only thing they ever had going on offense.

'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Middle of the pack. He would've been 9th last year but there's a ton of attrition to graduation / NFL at QB this year. Still working out some kinks, but as of now... Tier 1 Garrett Nussmeier LaNorris Sellers John Mateer Tier 2 Arch Manning DJ Lagway Diego Pavia Taylen Green Joey Aguilar Tier...
