    Even taking a "Tennessee-first" attitude you could argue having as many Vols as possible playing in the NFL is 300x more important for the program than a bowl win. Which is more effective in recruiting: "We won the Citrus bowl two years in a row!" or "We have 25 players in the NFL right now."

    McBride is universally loved because he was used as ammo to hate Butch more after he burned his redshirt. He was an average recruit brought in to shore up the QB for exactly the situation that happened: all starters go down with injuries and no one else can throw the ball.
